Gamers didn't get the expected price cut on the PlayStation 3 that they were expecting and hoping for at E3 this year, and in the past few weeks the consumers aren't the only ones asking Sony to drop the price. Activision has threatened to stop supporting the platform if the price doesn't drop. Now, Tecmo Koei has stated that they've been asking Sony to cut the price for a while now.
While the pressure is on Sony, we probably will not see a price drop until this holiday season at the earliest. This will no doubt give Sony a boost in sales and increase the install base, but will it be enough?

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
..
So, 3/4ths of the media moans and complains and griped about the price. They say "if ONLY Sony would drop the price! If ONLY there was a price drop things would be much better!" They compare sales, show off pie charts, and say that the one thing the PS3 NEEDS is a price drop...
...and now said price drop might not even help?
The facts: in year-to-year sales, the PS3 has been keeping pace with the 360, even though it (currently) is double the price of the cheapest 360 SKU. Eliminate the 360's 1-year headstart, and you have both systems selling roughly the same number of consoles.
Use some logic, people.
Yea and another 360 and Wii pricecut will help also.
No it surely will not, because games will still be 60.00

Anyway I think people know the answer to this, also I think their hasn't really been a need for price cuts due to bundles, and deals via Dell.com. Weren't they selling some PS3s at 299.99 at one point? The price of a 360 60 GB model.
The PS3 hasn't had a price cut in nearly two years. Sales are going to be huge in all the major territories. Remember how fast the PS3 closed the gap to about five million in 2008? The PS3 at $299.99 will close it faster because it'll directly be competing with the 360 Pro model at the same price. Xbox will lose marketshare and the PS3 will gain marketshare.
Let's not talk about FFXIII (JPN,) GT5, and GOW III...
Microsoft can't drop the price to $99.99 if they're going for a ten year life cycle and want to bundle Natal. $149.99 won't have a huge impact because of the value for money you get with the PS3. The xbox may be in for a long few years of spanking.
