Two Worlds sequel this winter

Robert Purchese from Eurogamer writes:

"TopWare (now owned by Zuxxez) has announced a sequel to Oblivion-alike RPG Two Worlds. Memorably dubbed Two Worlds II, the game will appear on Mac, "next-gen consoles" and PC this winter.

The sequel has been in development for two years and makes "quantum leaps" in all areas, boasts the press release. AI has been overhauled, authors ditched and a brand-new combat engine employed. Not in place of the authors, obviously."

who really cares about this series?

I did not murder him6199d ago

I thought they changed their minds about a PS3 version I'm probably wrong.

PC companies often say coming to consoles in a general sense, doesn't matter if a game is coming to three consoles or one.

I almost played frizbee with the Two Worlds 1 dvd after the first 5 minutes. At the time it seemed I would get more enjoyment watching the disk soar across the room than listening to the horrible voice acting and awkward combat system. The graphics were fair but not good. In the end, I played the game all the way through. It had some good points like the glueable stackable gear that made improved equipment. And the stealth system sort-of worked.

I just hope in TW2 I dont have to hear "Prey tell, hast thou seen the eye of Varrendoom? Foresooth, it should be near." "Nay, sir, thou hast enetered the improper domain for such queries." "If thou doest not heed my warnings, mine guards shall impale thou thusly and thou shalt shuffle off thy mortal coil."

Egads. Even after 6 months the words echo through my mind. *bangs head*

IGN: Two Worlds II Preview

IGN Writes: "Two Worlds was a laughing stock. There's no point in pretending otherwise. A vaguely Oblivion-esque roleplaying game, it reliably failed to match its ambition with its budget, resulting in a buggy, bizarre thing with a script seemingly written by a madman drunk on tramp juice. The one thing it did get right was timing - fairly hot on the heels of Oblivion, and something a little refreshingly different in the 360's relative youth. Also, it let you strap multiple swords together to make one even better sword. There's no arguing that that's a bad idea, right? Snickerfest it might have been, but the 2007 RPG sold well enough to warrant a sequel , one that we're told will be much, much better: built new from the ground up, rather than being simply more Two Worlds. That's your cue to stop sniggering at the back and pay attention."

Does this mean it will be able to use all of the PS3s cores?

Pandamobile6001d ago

The PS3 only has one core, you idiot.

mrv3216001d ago

PS3 has one core 6 available SPU so I very much doubt it.

dirthurts6001d ago

Only one core. The spu's don't act the same way.

dirthurts6001d ago

That's pretty intense. I don't know of any viable processors coming out with 8 cores...but I'll take it.

ATi_Elite6001d ago

No because the the Cell doesn't work like that.

It has one Core (PPE)

and eight helpers (SPe's) 6 available for games 1 for OS and 1 not active

I wish I could afford an eight core system.

crck6001d ago

Well its using 8 cores but only at 28%. People with good 4 core systems should be fine.

ATi_Elite6001d ago

Both Intel and AMD already have 6 core processors and 8 cores are on the horizon. Mostly for servers use.

It's good they optimized this game for the PC and multicore use that way it will run smooth on mid range PC's and run smooth on consoles.

free2game3656000d ago

Core i7 CPUs have 8 logical cores if you guys don't already realize that.

didnt the first two worlds suck male genitalia?

Pandamobile6001d ago

Maybe they scale well with i7's? My CPU has 4 physical cores and 8 logical cores, which if used properly can generate a huge performance boost over 4 physical cores.

OpenGL6000d ago

3DMark Vantage and Cinebench are pretty much the only places where you'll see a meaningful improvement with hyper-threading, and as we all know synthetic benchmarks don't mean a whole lot. This game will likely barely stress 4 cores, let alone 8 cores, physical or logical. I would still rather have an 8 core CPU with hyper threading than one without it.

Marty83706001d ago (Edited 6001d ago )

Both PPE & SPUs are cores.

SPUs can run indepentantly of the PPE or along side it, SPUs have the own kernal, memory & DMA. SPUs are CPUs in ther own right, so are cores.

Pandamobile6001d ago

The PPE could be considered a core, but the SPE's are _not_ cores. SPE's cannot run independantly from the PPE.

Gigalol6001d ago

Fable 2 graphics is much better....

Brutal Gamer: Two Worlds II Preview

Brutal Gamer writes - 'It's been well over 2 years since the first Two Worlds was released by TopWare Interactive. The first title was attacked heavily in the reviews, claiming the game to be an unstable and buggy mess, not something which you'd like to hear about one of your first console platforms – meaning the second one has quite a lot to make up for, but has it? You'll have to read on to find out.'
