E3 Microsoft: is 'Project Natal' necessary?

Pushing Buttons shoots back with an early (eyes-only) reaction to this afternoon's unveiling of 'Project Natal' for Xbox 360.

"In the video montage for 'Natal,' we see a girl controlling a fictional steering wheel along with a racing game, as well as a boy scanning his own skateboard to become an in-game item and proceeding to flap about the carpet in tune with his on-screen representation. But with all this "freedom," how will the player know the terms of the game? How can they avoid accidental movements or unintentional outbursts?"

Is this article really necessary?

Edit: Wow a disagree for what?

Show yourself SDF Troll.

Sure the article's got some snark, but the part I felt was important came toward the end, where it goes into the idea that maybe the Wii is successful because of the various input methods, not despite them.

It will really be interesting to see where the buzz starts rolling. I agree that innovation is key, and I'm glad to see it happening too!

Project natal has blown anything at this e3 out of the water and straight out of the outer hemisphere, anyone who watched it without the fanboy blinkers on will agree, its potential is frightening

Personally i think it is a great idea , just early stages that is all. If you picture this farther down the line the possibilities are virtually endless , you could practically be in the game , one quick example would be a Splinter Cell type game , your actions would be mirrored by "Sam" , go prone and crawl , crouch down and move forward slowly , creep up behind someone and snap their neck , all mirrored on screen , while this may be a good way off yet it does have potential, i look forward to playing the Kung Fu type game in my front room with my 2 boys , looks fantastic.

Browsing through the dashboard just reminded me so much of "Minority Report".

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
