Batman: Arkham Asylum Delayed?

Game Informer has learned that Eidos Interactive may be keeping its bat in the belfry until the holiday season. According to print advertising and release dates on retail sites, Batman: Arkham Asylum is scheduled to ship on June 23. The game's official website simply lists a summer timeframe. Today sources close to the game told Game Informer that the release date was being pushed until the fourth quarter of 2009.

If it came out in the summer I was ready and waiting to buy and play it...but in the fall/winter? Now you're competing with a bunch of other games (Splinter Cell Conviction, Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and a whole bunch of others). And hey, people don't have THAT much money. That's why I like when games are spread out throughout the year.

Arkham Asylum will fare as well during the holiday season. They pretty much had June sealed up.

Trey4Lyfe6249d ago

bigger titles may be out during that timeframe, right now it isnt being overshadowed and would be the time to strike, I liked the demo and already preordered it.

mpmaley6249d ago

Double Agreed. Sales of the game are going to get hit hard.

Sharpshell6249d ago

there's a demo? Where can I fidn this awesome thing!?

mpmaley6249d ago

They have them up @ Gamestop's. Saw some people playing it yesterday in the mall.

To be honest, I think if they had to delay it. Make it August. I can't think of a good game coming out in August. June and July seem to have a handful of pretty good/decent games. Also, it's right before the waves of big titles during fall/winter.

No! I don't want to wait so long for that game! I want to play as the Joker!

The_Zeitgeist6249d ago

We know you do dude. We know......

Mo0eY6249d ago

Good. Delayed = better game, and I can't wait to play Batman ala Snake style.

Eiffel6249d ago

I'll say it would be a pretty smart move. A lot of other titles would just distract potential buyers.

mpmaley6249d ago

What? Have you seen all the games coming out this holiday season? The only competition they had in June/July/August was practically inFamous, Prototype, and Ghostbusters. The amount of competition @ holiday will be 10x.

Eiffel6249d ago (Edited 6249d ago )

The article states.
"Release date was being pushed until the fourth quarter of 2009. "
If I do recall the fourth quarter of the year(this year) is from July 1, 2009 to September 30, 2009. But it really depends on where you live.
Anything from in between won't really steer people away from the title.

butterfinger6249d ago

is usually November - February I believe. That is probably why the article said the "holiday season".

BigManFanelli6249d ago

The fourth quarter of '09 could be one of two things: calendar-wise 4th quarter, which would be October-December, or fiscal year-wise 4th quarter, which is usually December-February.

Personally, I hope it means calendar-wise. That demo is sick.

KwietStorm_BLM6249d ago

The 4th quarter is October-December, you know, the last 3 months out of 12. How could July be in the 4th quarter? That's only the beginning of the second half of the year. Depends on where you live? Whhhat?

butterfinger6248d ago

4th quarter, they are always talking about the fiscal year, not the calendar year. When they are referring to the calendar year, they say Fall or Winter.
