In Killzone 2, the guns are accessories, You are the weapon.
So it is not a quest to the bigger gun but the better player.

I like that he tried to explain his gripes but the explinations are weak at best.

No cover? Well they tried cover in testing the MP but found it slowed down everything. With people complaining so loudly about slow movement this is a good choice. Keep the battles frantic.

I like the idea of players having to earn weapons. The assult rifles are very effective so I don't see this as a problem. I used the assult rifle to unlock all of my ranks.

I could go on but I wont...

When he found out that he couldn't be a engineer from scratch did this make him want to play "less" or "more" of KZ2 MP?

If the awnser is "more" then Guerilla has designed it right.

killzone 2 mp has problems?..... no the title is a little wrong, killzone 2 doesnt have any problems, its this writer who has the problems. i.e nitpicking the game.

no cover in mp was a good decision, i think it would've slowed down the gameplay, and i would probably never use it anyway.

only gripe i have is no party play.

They haven't even played the game! Sniper is the "Assist class"? "You get the rifles on higher levels"..?
Here are some FACTS: Sniper kills everyone with one hit except for the assault class, you get the rifles on the very start of the game, classes are well balanced AND YES: the game has some serious problems.
Why? Well... The controls are cumbersome mainly due to ridiculous acceleration, the weapons are far too inaccurate when aiming down the sights and too accurate from the hip, the majority of the maps aren't designed for 32 players and there's no no-respawn-mode.

Yep! They haven't played it:
"There are some more smaller things that bother me a lot.. like that fact that you die too easily in CQC conditions, You need to press X to respawn, and then in the menu that comes after that, pressing X takes you out, but pressing O re spawns you.. you if you press X twice (of which there are LOTS of chances) then you will be taken to the quit option.. and if you’re really in the heat of the battle.. you will immediately press “Oh no, its O” and then quit the match."

I agree with a FEW points (the annoying parts, nothing game-breaking, like pressing X to respawn, although the medic can still revive you), but this I disagree with:

Super Low ammo, No packs

There's a reason why you have unlimited pistol ammo. Also, there is the lack of an assist system. I do agree that they need but, but calling GG 'lazy' for not including one is idiotic. GG are anything but lazy developers! They spent 4 years on this single game. We all know they want it to be perfect. They probably had a good reason to not have an assist system.

i honestly have no negatives about the multiplayer. actually, i can't think of anything for GG to add off the top of my head either.

Got good gaming time with KZ2 at a friends house and wasn't really impress.. The graphics were great but I found the story not to attracting and the controls definitely takes some getting use to.. With all the hype behind this game plus a price drop this would've been the game that would finally make me want a PS3 but after playing it I feel I should just keep my money even if the PS3 price does drop..

Don't get me wrong its a good game but I feel i'm not missing much because as I said before KZ2 is a generic shooter. I love shooters and we all know that the 360 is the "shooter" console so i'll stick with that. It was becoming promising with all the great scores it got but I feel a lot of the press just bought into the hype. Like they bought into the hype of Halo3 which didn't impress me at all..

Edit-Oh and another thing! WTF doesn't KZ2 have splitscreen online or offline! Seriously! Me and my buddy wanted to play online together and Sony's biggest game can't do splitscreen??.. I mean Halo2 on the old Xbox does 4 player splitscreen online! KZ2 can't even do 2 player spitscreen! COD4 can't do splitscreen online but it can alteast do it offline..

Seriously what has GG beeng doing the last 5 years other than prettying up the graphics? I seriously think that those benchmarks that Sony put out with the CGI movie in e3 2005 really f*cked up GG.. Because they probably spent all the time trying to get it up to that movie but didn't quite get there...For the hype and developement time of 5 years with a team of 132 people this game is lacking a lot!

The "X/O quit" problem they mention IS actually true.

If you play on a system that uses "O" as the hard-wired "YES" button (namely the Japanese PS3s), then this is exactly how it works. I have both types so I know. And admittedly, it can get annoying. It's a nitpick though.

As for his other points... most of it is just nitpicking. It does sound like he's only played it for 3-4 hrs and decided to whine. (the sniper/assist complaint is just epic fail)

@ Buttons: The most logical explanation for no assists would be the fact that their point system works in whole digits. In CoD, a full kill counts as 10 points, so it makes sense to assign 2-8 points for an assist. But when a full kill only counts as 1 point, as in KZ2, it's much trickier to reward 0.2-0.6 points. It would have required an overhaul of their entire scoring mechanic.

@ Jaysquared: It is indeed unfortunate that they didn't include split-screen for online, but honestly the effects in the game are simply too intense to be rendered on more than one screen (for Halo, graphics are turned down when playing on split-screen; maybe they should have done the same for KZ2 /shrug).

That said, your comment that the 360 is the "shooter" console is quite petty. Based on your comment, you haven't had much time on the MP at all, and you judged KZ2 entirely based on the SP experience. I don't know where to start pointing out your mistakes you made there, but the bottomline is that you don't seem to have made a fair (nor informed) decision.

Destroying bots and air support gets you 1 point. Or if you kill someone but also commit suicide I think that ends up as 1 point too.

Point 1: Everybody should be able to pick a sniper if they want...

When you watch CNN, do you see a whole platoon with snipers, or bazookas, or do they mostly have the grunt usual army weapons? You have to work your way up when you join the army. Same with this video game.

Point 2: No assist point...
This is not Hockey! If somebody is not dead, he can still kill 20 of your teamates, yourself included. A kill is a kill. Having an ennemy still being able to shot back at you doesn't deserve points.

Point 3: Super low ammo
Again, game emulating real world... You don't see real soldiers carying 20,000 bullets with them when they are in the field? In fact, I still have a hard time accepting the fact that you can carry 5 weapons with you in a video game.

So Killzone is trying to get as real as possible... Not such a bad thing in my book

The low ammo thing that this guy is complaining really pissed me off. If you play for two hours you can unlock the badge that gives you double the ammo. Later engineers can repair ammo crates and look out you have full ammo and grenades after a visit to the magic crate.

#2 Assist Points: The assist points they are referring to are rewarded when the target is KILLED. I think you might be confusing it with R2's EXP system where ANY damage you cause rewards you EXP. That's not what he's asking for.

#3 Bullets: He's not complaining that he can't carry 5 weapons at a time. 64 bullets IS little, even for real-life standard-equipment. That's only TWO clips of ammo. And ONE grenade. In real-life you are given 2 grenades and FOUR clips of ammo before going into battle.

You just happened to pick the two VALID complaints he had.

Actually, when you start playing for more than a minute, ammo is lying around everywhere, it's basically your enimes and friends are dying = dropping ammo.

Maybe perhaps you shouldn't be spraying and praying and actually taking time to burst fire and kill.

The writer of this article has clearly not spent more than a single game round in KZ2 MP. The arguements are weak and his points are baseless.

Any FYI, only 3 classes (Soldier, Medic, tactician) have access to the assault rifle. And if all weapons were accessable, the grenade spamming would make game playing impossible.

And I said, you should not get any points for damage you have done to a target that SOMEBODY else killed. I don't care if you shot somebody 99 times, if he is still alive, he can kill, and you don't deserve points. Only players killing somebody should get points, even if he only had to use a slingshot to finish the job. It's my opinion, and sure enough, others are valid as well. Assist points? Sorry, points only if you kill in my book.

#3 Bullets: "He's not complaining that he can't carry 5 weapons at a time." No he is not, I AM.... A good game should have limited bullets and ALSO limited weapons. I accept it because games would be boring if we only had a standard gun during the full game. But wow, do I hate seing 9 weapons slots on a guy. Switch to bazooka, grenade launcher, handgun, shotgun, missile launcher, etc... (talking generally here, not just KZ!) And they still manage to swim with all the equipment!

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. My fault! And again, just my humble opinion. I still love games, and don't mind if my hero is carrying 800 pounds of equipment... (And who knows, maybe gravity is not the same everywhere!)

is fine, at first i thought it was bull that i didn't have that much ammo, but then when i figured out that i needed 8 good behavior ribbons to unlock the ability to carry more ammo. Once i knew that it was only a matter of a couple of hours of playing games without lighting up my teammates when they were around the enemy, easy as hell.

Plus engineers can repair broken ammo boxes so you can get more plus you can always pick up ammo if an enemy is using the same gun as you.

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.
