I think most people completely misunderstand home. It is always pretty much packed when I log in to check on it, and also is making a decent profit for Sony now. I would call that a success.

i usually like hiphopgamers articles and usually agree but this time i will have disagree. I admit i have not logged in as much but i was on today and there is still tons of people using home. they have special events which attracting so there not leaving home hanging. If they ever do put all the features they said they would, i can see home as a good portal to meet and launch games with friends.

also microsoft should make LIVE free but we all know thats never gona happen

so its ok for sony to make money by charging for virtual chairs and tables, but its not ok for MS to charge for xbox live?

I like the concept of home, i don't use it much because most of the good features i wanted are not in there or are not used much by devs.

Asking Sony to scrap Home is like asking Sony to scrap its innovation. They have a lot prepared for Home in the future and it is still only in its beta stage. Sony have big plans for Home in the future and I'm sure that scrapping it has never even crossed thier mind.

I'm not a big Home fan. I have used it maybe six times. I agree that at the moment it is kinda boring. But the idea of just scraping it after only 3 months of open beta is just moronic. Wow HHG sure found a winner in bakerboy. Give me a break.

They are expanding it a lot next month, and they are making alot of money from it, why would they randomly decide to scrap it? it's the same as saying, they should scrap killzone 2, because it might not sell well... seriously.. let them have their time, it was just released.

No, Home shouldn't be scrapped.

Home, for what it is, is impressive; a liaison to connect the PSN community with each other using mini-games to enhance the experience. Throughout development, this feature-barren application will be improved with video and audio streaming, as well as photo support (picture frames) and robust game launching options, not to mention other features yet to be announced. As the saying goes: "Rome wasn't built in a day." so can it be said about Home, and this application will continue to grow even into the PS4 and beyond, which is good for Sony as a generator of income (help keep PSN free) as well as offer us gamers a solid community and gaming tool.

I, as many of you, wish for more functionality to enhance the Home experience, such as integrating a virtual PSN Store, Trophy Room, and that Home and the XMB share functionality (including much-requested cross-game invites/launching, etc.). However, we must be patient, let things grow one step at a time.

I was playing SF4 yesterday and I saw a message that said "new shirt unlocked for home" I was like holy sh!t cool, then it gave my incentive to walk around and try it on . while I was walking around I saw more people with that shirt on and had a formed little social circle, hopefully more games support home like capcom is doing

for the service provided on the PS4, it's Sony dipping their toes and testing the water for what truely will become their online gaming interface. I don't see anything wrong with that, EXCEPT we were always told we'd be getting HOME... and NOT... HOME BETA!

The video didn't PROMISE anything. It just showed what Home was capable of doing. Also, it's funny how he thinks they should just scrap Home rather than working to improve it. Not to mention that it's still in beta.

The beta label is being used as an excuse to launch a product that is far less then what was promised. Home is updatable, but that does not mean it falls under the category of beta. I do not remember ever seeing another beta that had a working business model behind it.

If you enjoy Home, that's great. I'm not sure I would expect too much more from it though.

That's the second time today I've heard that.
I have a 360 and ps3 and still think that XBL has the best interface.
Mostly because it's there when you turn the console on.
Wham bam! there ya go. A nice visual treat with things to see and do.
PSN'S home feels too "I'm an application, and all real joy and usefulness in gone when you exit this program".
I think it'd be much more cool if you were able to load up your ps3 (and if you have an existing internet connection of course) just pop up in your home.
from THERE, you can check out your trophies and such.

That way, everything feels much more connected, and the ideas that Sony has can come full circle.

Don't scrap it yet...try to fix it first. Add a LOT more content, offer some freebies, get more companies on board. It's not so hopelessly broken that it can't be fixed.

But if that doesn't work, THEN scrap it.

I want to see the Resistance 2 room the promised and i hope Killzone 2 has a room. As for Home being scrapped i think thats a chuckle its a great place to relax.

I disagree. Sony shouldn't scrap Home because I like visiting Home every now and then, especially when I am running out of games to play due to the fact that I have completed them all.

It5's a daft article with no idea what the future(or even the present)of Home will be about.

Personally, I used to get frustrated with the few things on offer but with the EA space opening soon(which looks like being amazingly addictive with the graded poker tables where you can actually bet your virtual goodies)and other spaces in the pipeline it will only get both bigger and more interesting.

To be fair I now like the place since my "Sunday Hangover Chess Club For People Who No Longer Possess The Coordination for Video Games" got it's fifth and sixth members!(applications will require a reference!)

Thing is, when the things like proper game launching and all the third party spaces arrive it will be a completely different experience and as it's already turning over the cash it's inevitable that the thing will only gather pace very soon. Yeah, at the mo' it's limited but it's all raw potential right now(all fur coat and no knickers as my mum would say)full of promise but with nothing tangible to show yet most of us realise there's more to this than we've so far got to see.

I'd rather have it than not have it.

I really don't have the time for home as it's of no interest to me but haven't Sony already made a large some of money just from people buying virtual clothing and furniature!

My point being i'll probably never use it but i don't see why Sony would scrap it if they're making money... I would however hope that they do still remember improvmenets to the rest of their service e.g. improving friends lists and so on. Only worry is that they will focus too much on home

You do realise HHG doesn't write most of the articles on his site recently? In fact HHG loves the idea of HOME. But any way I disagree, I think HOME is just fine though a few more games and stuff to do on there, whilst you socialise would make it better. Also more of what EA are coming out with from other companies would be great and I think if they add some of the features they spoke about like game-launching then more people may use it though that feature don't really bother me.

This article fails to see that home is something Sony is obviously setting us up for on the PS4. Home on the PS3 will help iron out the roadmap for the PS4, the same way xbox live paved way for the service on the 360. At the very least, home is free and it gives creative companies; 3rd party and others, the chance to do something unique for their titles. Why not wait until these companies put something out before being overly critical of home.

I use it every once in a while, but I haven't made a purchase on it.. any money that goes towards my PS3 is for retail and digital download games

But I do agree that after all the time and money spent on developing Home, it is a bit disappointing for what there actually is. And yes I know it's still in beta. I just think that Sony put too many eggs in one basket with Home and missed many other opportunities in the process.

On the other hand, it's just the beginning of Home and there's always room for improvement.

It might be better when (if) it comes out of Beta.
