I don't know why people keep making this a Sony thing. People don't say "I like live service/GasS unless Sony does it." They say "we don't need anymore of this live service slop." Now, people might be more annoyed at Sony because they have such a strong SP identity, but the idea that gamers have been critical of only Sony for pursuing live service is just blatantly wrong.

Also, if you think the trend towards live service games just started this year, you haven't been paying attention at all. When Suicide Squad failed at the beginning of 2024, the immediate narrative was "the industry is saturated with live service games and we don't need anymore." And that was far from the start of that narrative, people had been saying that for years.

Also, what? Putting aside how some of these games are at the moment, there was at least a period of time for several years where Fortnite, PUBG, Warzone, Destiny 2, and Apex Legends had solid playerbases that included many console players. And that doesn't include things like Dead By Daylight or Warframe. Unless you are talking about a console exclusive LS, which no serious company would ever release at this point.
