NoobFeed editor Wasbir writes - Blades of Fire is brave and great in the soul-like and Metroidvania style. MercurySteam has taken some risks, especially with the length of weapons, which might turn off some players, but will ultimately make the game more enjoyable and engaging.

Blades of Fire is a disappointing action adventure from the team behind Metroid Dread

Blades of Fire, the dark fantasy action-adventure from Metroid Dread studio MercurySteam, has "underperformed" following its console and PC release.
The game is ok. I bought it because I like MercurySteam for their Castlevania games. Stopped playing BoF though as I'm not enjoying it. Making it Epic exclusive title didn't help either.
I was going to buy it but after playing it I didn’t enjoy the crafting or the world design and like someone else said it being Epic store exclusive did it for me.

WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "Blades of Fire is a much better game than I initially anticipated. Granted, don’t expect grand innovations to the soulslike genre, but we’ve got some really novel ideas, such as directional-based combat and a weapon crafting system that add a unique flavour to the game. Even if not all of them work, I still have to admit I respect the efforts. I highly recommend fans of the classic Souls games to check this one out. "
