The game is ok. I bought it because I like MercurySteam for their Castlevania games. Stopped playing BoF though as I'm not enjoying it. Making it Epic exclusive title didn't help either.

Same here I think Mercurysteam is an incredibly talented development studio, and I was really enjoying this demo until I realized it was a soul's like which just kind of killed it for me. and that's a shame cuz everything about it is right up my alley except for the souls like part. The combat is so fun though, just wish it were more of a standard adventure title

I was going to buy it but after playing it I didn’t enjoy the crafting or the world design and like someone else said it being Epic store exclusive did it for me.

Uninteresting and unappealing looking characters and art design. Game was an easy pass for me.

Epic store exclusive is why I missed it, honestly. Developers need to learn from all the games that have missed the mark because of bending to that sweet, sweet Sweeney / CCP cash. World of Goo 2 did the same thing and I forgot it existed until I saw it was finally on Steam. It kills the hype and by the time these games hit Steam they’re old news and have to come on sale for folks to notice them.

Or maybe your marketing sucked?

isarai176d ago

I think this is definitely part of it because even though I had my eye on it being Mercurysteam .I didn't even realize it was out when it came out. I just seen the demo one day on the store

IAMRealHooman176d ago

their a decent dev studio too, i played spacelords for awhile

Review - Blades of Fire (PS5) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "Blades of Fire is a much better game than I initially anticipated. Granted, don’t expect grand innovations to the soulslike genre, but we’ve got some really novel ideas, such as directional-based combat and a weapon crafting system that add a unique flavour to the game. Even if not all of them work, I still have to admit I respect the efforts. I highly recommend fans of the classic Souls games to check this one out. "
