Star Wars Outlaws: The Final Preview - IGN

We spent four hours in Star Wars Outlaws, first-ever open-world Star Wars game, and came away quite impressed at how organic all of its activities, characters, and world felt.

I'm looking forward to hearing / seeing more when the game is released. But so far, I'm optimistic when it comes to the gameplay mechanics that were shown. I'm already loving the idea of the upgradeable blaster, speeder bike, and ship. The open world looks huge and glad to know that you'll have access to a vehicle for traversal. I also like that they pointed out that the 'checklist' activities hated by many (not me though) will at least have a somewhat logical reason for being included in the world. Overall, I'm liking what I see so far but, as always, I'll wait for final product (never pre-order) and if it's good I'll likely pick it up around the holidays when it'll inevitably be on sale.

I saw one article call it Red Dead Redemption in space, which if true would be right up my alley. But yes, never pre-order.

CrimsonWing69665d ago

It’s open-world and has a dead eye mechanic. I don’t think this will be on Red Deadms level, but I like what I’ve seen and I pre-ordered it.

This reads so weirdly like a marketing post.

Upgradeable blaster, bike, and ship? That's not an idea; those are mechanics literally in every type of game like this. No duh there's a vehicle for traversal, Starfield is pretty much the only example of an open world game currently without a good way to travel quick on land.

You already like checklist activities but the one they've shown was organically generic as heck.

LOL I actually think that would suck as a marketing post since I stated that I would not preorder (remember kids, never pre-order) and I'd wait until the holidays to get the game on sale. But those points didn't support your narrative so I see why you wouldn't point them out. But yeah, I'm still optimistic for the game.

"No duh there's a vehicle for traversal, Starfield is pretty much the only example of an open world game currently without a good way to travel quick on land."

Did you think "no duh, Starfield will have a vehicle for traversal" when they were previewing the game? Cause I know a lot of people who assumed that it would but look how that turned out.

And yet *you* are also not addressing the points I did call out, which validate why I highlighted them - those parts read like shameless shilling.

Omg an open-world game has upgrades, so wow.

raWfodog665d ago (Edited 665d ago )

I'm so sorry that the things that I like to do in a game have struck a nerve with you. Just kindly ignore my posts in the future since they are 'shameless shills' to you. Maybe one day we will all enjoy the same things and be as one.

@crimson

Noooooo, don't pre-order!! :D

Remember when everybody thought Guardians of the Galaxy was gonna be wack?

Tacoboto665d ago

And it was an incredible surprise

Demetrius665d ago (Edited 665d ago )

This game looks fun, I remember mfs talking trash about avatar last year before that game dropped saying it'll be hella downgraded etc. Turns out it's one of the best looking games that I enjoy

raWfodog665d ago

Bottom line, just play what you want and pay no attention to the naysayers. If you can try before you buy, that's even better. Sometimes you just don't know if you're going to like a game until you actually get some hands-on time with it. Reviews and previews can be useful to help get you some more information though.

I was also surprised when I played it. It's a good game. Maybe if I tried playing it on PS5 before, I would have liked it too. Because of the reviews, I didn't play it before. Now that I've played it on Switch 2, I'm excited for the sequel if there is one.

CrimsonWing69159d ago

That’s the thing that killed me. I thought the game was good, but because of all the controversy around the main character’s design and some rabid Ubisoft hate, this game got a bum rap.

Played the demo yesterday and was massively impressed by the way it looks and runs. However the demo gives you 2 hours to play but I came away confused at whether I actually did or learnt anything within that 2 hours. I just didn’t understand the point of any of it.

repsahj206d ago

It's a very good game. And it's even better with the latest update.

PRIMORDUS206d ago (Edited 206d ago )

If not physical you can keep it Ubishit. I haven't bought one Switch 2 game yet, mostly everything is keycard bullshit. At least Metroid Prime 4 will have a physical copy, but for me eBay only for a cheaper price.

repsahj206d ago

Same as digital distribution when it came out. Initial resistance then adopting gradually.

PRIMORDUS206d ago

Once every console goes all digital I'm done. There is no point for me to give money for digital crap only to be taken away at anytime. I will torrent games on PC and delete them once I'm done, as I don't care about digital there is no value in keeping digital games.
