Resident Evil's Mercenaries mode has been a highlight of the last few games and if it returns in RE9 then it needs to pull the trigger on one feature.

It's Official: Resident Evil Requiem Uses Sony's Brand-New PSSR Upscaler

Digital Foundry writes: "It's delivering sharp, stable and convincing 4K imagery from around one quarter the native pixel count, it's competitive with PC equivalents and represents a big, big improvement over the PSSR of the past. And the notion that this upgrade may apply to all prior titles that support the older version of the technology is mouthwatering - potentially it's a system-wide improvement to the console's library."

Very cool. Such an upgrade. I am wishing I would have pulled the trigger on a Pro during the holidays when it was discounted. Can't wait to see how it upgrades other games as well.

Impressive! Best console version of the game! Really a treat for Pro owners.

hiawa2392d ago

Looks really good on the Pro.

People were wondering what took so look given that Sony co developed FSR4... but the system wide update helps fill in the blanks here. They actually made it quasi drop in with the toggle so like with DLSS you will be able to force the newest model as opposed to cutting off the old software. Somehow we got the best possible timeline for PSSR. This changes the value prop for the Pro and gives us insight into what Next Gen can offer in terms of ML support.

" Somehow we got the best possible timeline for PSSR."

I'm happy they fixed it for us PS5 Pro owners and a patch is coming to hopefully fix other titles, but I guess I'm not following you here. A better timeline would no doubt be a much better PSSR out-the-gate that didn't leave some games looking like ass (e.g., every UE5 game I think...).

Metacritic Removes Resident Evil 9 Review From Fake AI Writer

Kotaku writes: "A Resident Evil Requiem review published by long-standing UK gaming news site Videogamer has been removed from Metacritic after readers pointed out it was written by a fake AI journalist who doesn’t actually exist. Videogamer‘s human masthead was gutted last week, sources tell Kotaku, and the site has been publishing apparent genAI slop ever since."

Genuinely well done on metacritic for taking such an immediate hard stance. Not often, if at all, you see that these days. Credit where it’s due.

Eonjay93d ago (Edited 93d ago )

This is really sad on so many levels. Not least of all the fact that all the human lost their jobs to a language model. Can we block all content coming from Videogamer site. Can we make a rule that content sumitted to N4G must be greated by a human being.

I'm gonna report every Videogamer article I see on N4G from now on so just putting it out there.

Christopher93d ago

N4G doesn't allow AI-generated content. Please report as you see necessary.

Mr_cheese92d ago

Isnt videogamer one of the N4G owner run sites?

Seems to fit their MO to cut corners and push cheap dribble.

Christopher92d ago

Check the last time one of their articles was added to the site.

OMGitzThatGuy92d ago

Check my comments, over a year ago I was calling out videogamer and N4G on their AI articles pushing slop 24/7

Christopher92d ago

I can confirm that those older articles were not AI, just not great.

TheColbertinator93d ago

It is amazing but I'm starting to slightly miss the moron gaming press we had in the 2010s because at least they were human.

MrDead92d ago (Edited 92d ago )

It was "written" by Asha Sharma I hear.

Maybe the most underwhelming RE reveal I can think of.
