New Resident Evil Game in Development Confirmed

During the Capcom Next digital show, Capcom confirmed what we knew all along, and that's a new Resident Evil game is in development!

Babadook7677d ago

“This was confirmed by game director Koshi Nakanishi during the show’s ending segment:”

So Resident Evil 7s director returns for 9. Sounds good to me. Make it VR please!

EnViiDisnuCCa676d ago

Please don't make it vr vr is dead whoever brought the psvr 2 I know ya mad cuz ain't nothing on there to make some1 spend just as much as a console for a paper weight

aaronaton676d ago

You do know there is a separate team that port the game to VR, it's not day 1. Looking at how you type, i'm guessing there is a few more things in life you don't know....

Babadook7676d ago (Edited 676d ago )

I bought it and it's been anything but a paper weight. I've bought dozens of games and finished many of them. I've put 300 hours into GT7 alone (much better in VR). I've played two big resident evil games (both much better in VR).

If you don't want to play RE in VR don't. Capcom doesn't make you. But you don't know what you're missing.

Cacabunga676d ago

I’m glad this is in development.. RE is back to glory since 7

AshleeEmerson676d ago

Lol, I love that you're steadily working on your comedic piece... Listen Vr2 is amazing. If you don't have one then please don't judge, every Resident Evil that's in VR is best played that way and Racing games.

If you don't like it then ok but VR is long from dead. I take it you mean it is not as vital as regular console games right? That's been out for toooooo many years. Yeah, well VR is still new tech, technically; it'll get there, just the same way gaming has gone from pong days (a so-called kids toy) to the biggest medium...

Surely you as a gamer can see that, there will be a point where VR will do the same thing; as our younger generation of kids grows up using this tech. Give it time sire...

anast676d ago

They're releasing and deving games for it.

Yes VR PLEEEEEASE!

If not, then I definitely won't be buying.

CrimsonWing69676d ago

I liked 8, but man was it a mess in terms of RE lore and having really any connection to anything. Like, it could be a whole new IP and I’d have never thought for once it was an RE game. I’m hoping with 9 they bring it back to labs and B.O.W.’s and not go so crazy into supernatural mold and R/C Cola magneto man.

RaidenBlack676d ago (Edited 676d ago )

It'll be open-world unfortunately ... so, yea ... RE: FarCry now /s
I am actually more interested in the rumored RE:1 Re-Remake ... in time for the Series’ 30th Anniversary

-Foxtrot676d ago

It was the same for VII

Felt like it was a new IP they slapped RE references in during late development

Like my theory on why Chris Redfield looks so different in VII is that it was never supposed to be Chris, just a random Soldier.

aaronaton676d ago (Edited 676d ago )

RE7 and RE:Village are some of the best experiences in VR i've had. VR redefines how to play horror games and Capcom know it. Regardless of PSVR2 sales, i think the team know its the definitive way to play Resident Evil.
Anyone that disagrees with this simply hasn't played RE on the PSVR2.

Babadook7676d ago

They are the best experiences I've had all gen long.

gold_drake676d ago

god i hope its not open world

DefaultComment676d ago

Now, who would be the next protagonist? I mean Ethan Winters is dead, I don't know if her daighter might, Chris looks old AF. Will Capcom satisfy once again to thir thirst audience? All this and more on the next episode of RE9

It's Official: Resident Evil Requiem Uses Sony's Brand-New PSSR Upscaler

Digital Foundry writes: "It's delivering sharp, stable and convincing 4K imagery from around one quarter the native pixel count, it's competitive with PC equivalents and represents a big, big improvement over the PSSR of the past. And the notion that this upgrade may apply to all prior titles that support the older version of the technology is mouthwatering - potentially it's a system-wide improvement to the console's library."

Very cool. Such an upgrade. I am wishing I would have pulled the trigger on a Pro during the holidays when it was discounted. Can't wait to see how it upgrades other games as well.

repsahj71d ago

Impressive! Best console version of the game! Really a treat for Pro owners.

hiawa2371d ago

Looks really good on the Pro.

Eonjay71d ago

People were wondering what took so look given that Sony co developed FSR4... but the system wide update helps fill in the blanks here. They actually made it quasi drop in with the toggle so like with DLSS you will be able to force the newest model as opposed to cutting off the old software. Somehow we got the best possible timeline for PSSR. This changes the value prop for the Pro and gives us insight into what Next Gen can offer in terms of ML support.

Smellsforfree70d ago

" Somehow we got the best possible timeline for PSSR."

I'm happy they fixed it for us PS5 Pro owners and a patch is coming to hopefully fix other titles, but I guess I'm not following you here. A better timeline would no doubt be a much better PSSR out-the-gate that didn't leave some games looking like ass (e.g., every UE5 game I think...).

Metacritic Removes Resident Evil 9 Review From Fake AI Writer

Kotaku writes: "A Resident Evil Requiem review published by long-standing UK gaming news site Videogamer has been removed from Metacritic after readers pointed out it was written by a fake AI journalist who doesn’t actually exist. Videogamer‘s human masthead was gutted last week, sources tell Kotaku, and the site has been publishing apparent genAI slop ever since."

1nsomniac72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

Genuinely well done on metacritic for taking such an immediate hard stance. Not often, if at all, you see that these days. Credit where it’s due.

Eonjay72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

This is really sad on so many levels. Not least of all the fact that all the human lost their jobs to a language model. Can we block all content coming from Videogamer site. Can we make a rule that content sumitted to N4G must be greated by a human being.

I'm gonna report every Videogamer article I see on N4G from now on so just putting it out there.

Christopher72d ago

N4G doesn't allow AI-generated content. Please report as you see necessary.

Mr_cheese72d ago

Isnt videogamer one of the N4G owner run sites?

Seems to fit their MO to cut corners and push cheap dribble.

Christopher71d ago

Check the last time one of their articles was added to the site.

OMGitzThatGuy71d ago

Check my comments, over a year ago I was calling out videogamer and N4G on their AI articles pushing slop 24/7

Christopher71d ago

I can confirm that those older articles were not AI, just not great.

TheColbertinator72d ago

It is amazing but I'm starting to slightly miss the moron gaming press we had in the 2010s because at least they were human.

MrDead71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

It was "written" by Asha Sharma I hear.

Maybe the most underwhelming RE reveal I can think of.
