sparky77950d ago

Absolutely incredible even an hour of gameplay isn't enough.

Space magic!? How do you end on that tease lol.

I didn't think this could beat Zelda for GOTY but my god I think it just might.

tay8701950d ago (Edited 950d ago )

Lol this has 0% chance of beating zelda for game of the yr, stop. I'm sure it will be a good game, and certainly looks to be very ambitious. Graphics don't impress me, and the combat looks very janky and uninspired imo. They didn't say whether its 30 or 60 fps, which pretty much confirms its only 30. Lots of stuff to sink your teeth into, but just looks extremely boring to me. Maybe just not my type of game, I don't know

just_looken950d ago

exactly it looked like the same stiff combat from fallout 3 in 2008.

just you walking shooting walking no companions or army heck anything not even a space dog.

what is the purpose or story its a meh to me

ThePacemaker950d ago

The gameplay shown is definitely 30 fps on Xbox. Maybe high end PC can do 60 fps.

Yeah this is next level gaming if they can deliver then wow because they really have something special they just need to deliver.

raWfodog950d ago

Next level, no. But it’s okay if it’s current gen lol. I’m looking forward to seeing what the final delivery will be.

repsahj950d ago

Lol about next level gaming. XD

EvertonFC950d ago

AI was still crap, when looking around at the landscapes slowly it was still janky with little jumps, Phil promised to clarify 30/60fps, other than that the game looks good exploration wise.
This is 100% no GOTY imo.

purple101950d ago

Il clarify that for you right now. It's 20fps.

sparky77950d ago

AI always looks average in trailers everyone attacked the Spiderman 2 trailer for the same thing, it's like that for trailer purposes. If reviewers say the same then you have a point.

The only competition for GOTY will be Zelda and from what we have seen Starfield 100% could be GOTY.

PhillyDonJawn950d ago

If this live up to expectations I see no way in hell how Zelda would get GOTY over something like this that pushes the envelope

zarbor950d ago (Edited 950d ago )

Well this has the "potential" to be GOTY but those of us who have played all of Bethesda games, they will need to make sure they do a heck of a lot better job with polishing and rid of bugs come launch. This game is way bigger than their other games so I just don't see that happening. Our only hope is that they get all of the game breaking ones unlike Cyberpunk.

Nintendo does a wonderful job of releasing games that are polished. I have not played the new Zelda yet but every review seems to state its super well done and current GOTY. My current GOTY based on what I have "played so far" is Diablo IV. That game is well polished as well and another game that Starfield will have to overcome IMO.

I like what I have seen from Starfield. Yes, it has a chance to be the GOTY based on what has been shown. I'm not confident it will but I'm more confident it will be a top title this year. Its the only game so far on XBOX that I want to play. So glad they it will be on GamePass since I'm done buying MS consoles.

StormSnooper949d ago

I definitely wouldn't stay it is "incredible". I hope it proves to be a good game, but I wouldn't be surprised if its only a moderately good game (I can't imagine MS pulling another Redfall again, I really can't)

This game looks SS4 Epic! I'm going to buy the collectors edition when the pre-orders go live

just_looken950d ago

you need a /s at the end of that comment

jwillj2k4950d ago (Edited 950d ago )

I’d much rather this than “I was gonna buy the collectors edition but instead I’ll get it for a dollar on gamepass!”

KicksnSnares950d ago

I want to apologize to everyone I offended with my comment 😂. I’m super hyped tho

950d ago
RaidenBlack950d ago

Nothing to apologize. Its PERFECTLY FINE to get hyped up for a video game.
That's what video games are for: excitement.
Every game/franchise/genre has its fans ... don't let other people's comments sway you away from your hype.

GhostScholar950d ago

It looks incredible and everyone knows it.

ZeekQuattro950d ago

No need to apologize. I'm even more hyped for the game after the Direct than I was before. I'm going to get lost with all the ship & outpost options. I just know it. Definitely one of those games where I look over at the clock and have to a double take when I see how much time has passed.

I have no intentions on attempting to get the collectors edition but I'd be lying if said I didn't want that watch. I don't even wear watches these days anymore but I still kinda want it. I would find a reason to wear it for sure.

-Foxtrot950d ago (Edited 950d ago )

I’m super impressed

I mean I’m also sceptical they can pull it off with so much going on but impressed

Just makes waiting for ES6 worth it with the ideas presented in this adapted to the next ES game

RaidenBlack950d ago

Gotta admit, I really liked what I saw ... was not expecting it to be this vast and still look this good.
Hope, less bugs at launch this time.

Sonic1881950d ago

Were you impressed with the enemy AI? I wasn't

raWfodog950d ago (Edited 950d ago )

@Foxtrot
I’m also looking forward to this game but I’m surprised that you were not up in arms or offended at the CE having a digital download instead of a physical copy. So seemed so mad when Spiderman 2 announced it.

-Foxtrot950d ago

Oh no no

Game of show imo. This one will hit.

Game of the generation. Bethesda is not playing any games. I salute them.

RPG of the generation confirmed. Xbox are going to be eating VERY well.

Starfield designer says it is still a "great game", but procedural generation held it back

Starfield developer Bruce Nesmith explains that the sci-fi RPG is still a great game despite its faults, it's just not as good as the studio's past.

areejs1234586d ago

Yes, finally. The goddamn procedural gen and the random fetch quests/contracts that were all essetially the same

Vits86d ago

That is by far, the least of the game issues.

Christopher86d ago

As the content was designed around the procedural generation, it is the biggest issue, IMHO.

Vits86d ago

The main problem with the game is not the procedurally generated content. The real issue is the structure itself. Bethesda did not build Starfield around its setting or its scale. They just reused the same old framework they have been using for years and tried to stretch it across a completely different kind of game.

Because of that, a lot of things simply do not make sense. You have this enormous galaxy to explore, yet you barely interact with the curated, human made part of it. The systems exist, but they do not work together or they simple don't work on the scale they should. Progression feels meaningless because it does not matter, and the story, especially the handcrafted parts, is among the most generic Bethesda has ever made.

So no, the procedural generation is not the real problem.

Christopher85d ago

You and I are saying the same thing, you just don't see that it's the procedural generated content is what they did instead of 'building around its setting or its scale'.

DOMination-86d ago

Still haven't played this but interested to see what they're cooking for the second expansion. It would be great to see them turn it around like FO76 but from what I can tell, most of the quibbles were due to the engine and tech so I doubt they'll be able to fix a lot of that.

Goodguy0186d ago

Sweet. Just give us elder scrolls 6 now please.

Profchaos86d ago

The UI was the bigger problem imo tied into the fact that they felt the need to interrupt the player every five minutes with a wall of text telling them how to play.

The player was given zero leash to just figure anything out and it felt like I was studying for a test trying to figure out how to play the game.

Six hours in and the game was still pausing and forcing me to do a guided tutorial I had enough.

If the game took a breath of the wild approach where it taught you how to use the tools in game and streamlined the menus it could have been far better

Bethesda Confirms New Starfield Story DLC, Free Updates, and Space Travel Overhaul

Bethesda reveals new Starfield story DLC, free content, and gameplay improvements, including changes to space travel and new systems.

MrBaskerville141d ago (Edited 141d ago )

I wonder how they handle the space travel, because for it to improve the game it would require a big overhaul and a lot of work. It's not just a matter of flying from a to b in realtime, interesting stuff needs to happen on those stretches.

But I do hope they do something substantial. Having interesting space exploration might not fix the game but it would improve it.

peppeaccardo141d ago

Too Little to late to save this dumpster fire of a game. They have to embrace a new game engine and overall storytelling backbone to win real Space Opera RPGs players back IMO ...

Neonridr141d ago

No Man's Sky weas a mess at launch. Anything can be saved if they put enough effort in.

Tacoboto141d ago

"Overall storytelling backbone"

Oh the drama... jeeze. Biggest sign of someone who didn't play the game. Especially considering the quality of some of those later campaign missions

neutralgamer1992141d ago

Sorry when 14 year old Bethesda games have 50k players and starfield has 5k that's all you need to know. I bought my Xbox because of starfield and to say it was a letdown isn't doing it justice

I hope they can improve the constant loading. That's one of the biggest issue and break the immersion. What's the most frustrating thing is the fact they could have launched with 3-5 handcrafted planets and added more we DLC. Too much of the game is AI generated slop

Armaggedon141d ago

People underestimate starfield.

Lightning77141d ago

PS5 and Switch 2 versions come early next year btw.

Pergele141d ago

Is this game even relevant anymore?
