For me I was really looking forward to Redfall. Not only is it right around the corner, but the little gameplay I’ve seen looks promising.

Yang_kai1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

😂 🚫 😱 to be fair 10 don’t have a year and 4 have a 2023 TBD date 🤷🏿 all look good

Lightning771249d ago

You mean just like the upcoming PS5 list of games?

Yang_kai1248d ago (Edited 1248d ago )

Can’t comment on that one I haven’t seen it yet 🤷🏿 But I will compare them once I do, if you provide a link to it will be appreciated 😁

I want to see actual gameplay of Avowed.
Easily my most anticipated game that I don't know F-all about.

Starfield designer says it is still a "great game", but procedural generation held it back

Starfield developer Bruce Nesmith explains that the sci-fi RPG is still a great game despite its faults, it's just not as good as the studio's past.

areejs1234586d ago

Yes, finally. The goddamn procedural gen and the random fetch quests/contracts that were all essetially the same

Vits86d ago

That is by far, the least of the game issues.

Christopher86d ago

As the content was designed around the procedural generation, it is the biggest issue, IMHO.

Vits86d ago

The main problem with the game is not the procedurally generated content. The real issue is the structure itself. Bethesda did not build Starfield around its setting or its scale. They just reused the same old framework they have been using for years and tried to stretch it across a completely different kind of game.

Because of that, a lot of things simply do not make sense. You have this enormous galaxy to explore, yet you barely interact with the curated, human made part of it. The systems exist, but they do not work together or they simple don't work on the scale they should. Progression feels meaningless because it does not matter, and the story, especially the handcrafted parts, is among the most generic Bethesda has ever made.

So no, the procedural generation is not the real problem.

You and I are saying the same thing, you just don't see that it's the procedural generated content is what they did instead of 'building around its setting or its scale'.

Still haven't played this but interested to see what they're cooking for the second expansion. It would be great to see them turn it around like FO76 but from what I can tell, most of the quibbles were due to the engine and tech so I doubt they'll be able to fix a lot of that.

Goodguy0186d ago

Sweet. Just give us elder scrolls 6 now please.

Profchaos86d ago

The UI was the bigger problem imo tied into the fact that they felt the need to interrupt the player every five minutes with a wall of text telling them how to play.

The player was given zero leash to just figure anything out and it felt like I was studying for a test trying to figure out how to play the game.

Six hours in and the game was still pausing and forcing me to do a guided tutorial I had enough.

If the game took a breath of the wild approach where it taught you how to use the tools in game and streamlined the menus it could have been far better

Microsoft's unending shame-parade on full display. Lost jobs, lost studios, lost games. Great job Phil. What leadership.

One of my fav art style.
Too bad they couldn't make the rest work.

I wonder how they handle the space travel, because for it to improve the game it would require a big overhaul and a lot of work. It's not just a matter of flying from a to b in realtime, interesting stuff needs to happen on those stretches.

But I do hope they do something substantial. Having interesting space exploration might not fix the game but it would improve it.

peppeaccardo141d ago

Too Little to late to save this dumpster fire of a game. They have to embrace a new game engine and overall storytelling backbone to win real Space Opera RPGs players back IMO ...

Neonridr141d ago

No Man's Sky weas a mess at launch. Anything can be saved if they put enough effort in.

Tacoboto141d ago

"Overall storytelling backbone"

Oh the drama... jeeze. Biggest sign of someone who didn't play the game. Especially considering the quality of some of those later campaign missions

neutralgamer1992141d ago

Sorry when 14 year old Bethesda games have 50k players and starfield has 5k that's all you need to know. I bought my Xbox because of starfield and to say it was a letdown isn't doing it justice

I hope they can improve the constant loading. That's one of the biggest issue and break the immersion. What's the most frustrating thing is the fact they could have launched with 3-5 handcrafted planets and added more we DLC. Too much of the game is AI generated slop

Armaggedon141d ago

People underestimate starfield.

Lightning77141d ago

PS5 and Switch 2 versions come early next year btw.

Pergele141d ago

Is this game even relevant anymore?
