Everything Missing From This Year’s Not-E3

Two years later, some big-studio tentpoles like Fable and Pragmata are still totally MIA

Lifexline1337d ago

It’s no surprise games are taking longer to make. As long as it’s good I’ll wait people want things quickly them complaint when it’s all buggy.

ClayRules20121337d ago

Right. Like that travesty on PS4/Xbox One called CyberPunk…

MadLad1337d ago

I want to see what they do with Outer Worlds 2. I really enjoyed the first, but there was definite room for improvement.
A bigger budget and team this time around should see to that, I think.

That said, I'm dying to see gameplay for Avowed.

jBlakeeper1337d ago

Pragmata is one of those Capcom games that is going to take a long time to see the light of day I feel. I know it’s scheduled for next year but Capcom is very tight lipped about it. Which suggests it’s further off than anticipated.

Yikes! The series S really is awful

ApexLanding239d ago

"Awful" is a subjective opinion, some people don't have a problem with lower quality looking games but the video comparison confirms series S is consistently the lowest quality version with the only exception being framerate.

AuraAbjure10d ago

For all the savvy people who bought their XBSS for literally $300 the game looks great and seems to maintain 60 FPS steady.

repsahj10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

DLSS handling the lasers very well compared to FSR, but the hair is not so much.

Toecutter0010d ago

I don't see this game finding an audience. It seems to be entirely predicated on this unique game mechanic, but with little else to hold ones interest. Hopefully, it will do well enough because we need more original IPs.

repsahj9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Sorry for the double post. I got an error message, and then my reply became a duplicate.

repsahj9d ago

The majority of reactions to the demo are positive. Like me, I am going to buy it now on launch.

jznrpg9d ago

I’m going buy it for whatever that is worth.

Dexterio9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Gonna buy it. But yeah, these kinds of games hardly have a following, but then gamers complain of monotony and lack of creativity in modern games when they themselves buy the next CoD and FIFA EVERY YEAR!.

Kyizen9d ago

Isn't that like ever new game. Like Dead Space would just be a shooter but they layered on the limb dismemberment, this would be a shooter but they layered on the hacking mechanic

TheColbertinator9d ago

Careful with that thought. When your game is TOO different, it is difficult to market and as such sells very poorly.

Profchaos9d ago

Wouldn't be the first game to launch with a singular new mechanic Nintendo made while ips with just one new thing differentiating it

That's insane switch 2 produces a better image than a series s

DazaMc9d ago

Better than the PS5 in some scenes, the bit with the stairs in the distance.

The SWITCH 2 is really holding its own. Impressive.

Pragmata "Switch 2 Vs. PS5" graphics and framerate comparison

Pretty impressive stuff

Another comparison with better quality.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

PS5's lowest framerate dip is 54, while Switch 2's is 45. I hope it will be fixed on release day.

salis84411d ago

The fact of the matter is that PS5 holds 60 nearly always, while Switch 2 is under 60 nearly always. And it's clear that in combat and graphically intense scenes when it matters, PS5 is holding FPS while Switch is clearly struggling. Honestly, they probably should have just put a 30 FPS cap on it to make it a smoother experience.

It's also clear that there are missing reflections; the particle effects are extremely cut down,.LoD is much lower, shadow detail is reduced. And while I didn't pixel count, the base resolution on PS5 has consistently been higher than the upscaled resolution that the Switch 2 offers in multi-platform games. I believe the PS5 also has ray tracing, and the PS5 Pro definitely has ray tracing. And there are probably many more reductions that would be able to be noticed in a better side by side.

I'm not really sure why you're insisting on making graphical comparisons, it's never going to be flattering for Switch 2. Switch 2 is basically a PS4 with upscaling, all these multiplats are "playable" versions of the game.

You would be better off supporting your favorite hardware by simply making people aware that it's on Switch vs making unflattering comparisons to PS5/PS5 Pro.

Neonridr11d ago

the point is, the game doesn't look UGLY on the Switch 2, like so many people claim. We are long past the days of comparing a PS3 game to a PSP game where the compromises were significant and meaningful. The game looks and runs pretty amazingly on the Switch 2. Not to mention you can take it with you. If you want to play it on your Pro, be my guest.

Nobody ever once suggested that it looks better than anything else out there. This is you making up some false narrative.

salis84411d ago

The point is, don't try to force console war style comparisons.

repsahj11d ago

I don't get it, what is wrong with comparison videos? The demo is now available on both consoles, it is natural comparing the 2(3 if you include the series x version).

salis84410d ago

Ok, then don't get mad when other people point out other comparison information.

Neonridr10d ago

@salis844 - you are the only one here suggesting anything, the rest of us commented on how good the S2 version looks. We all knew the S2 version wouldn't be as feature rich as the more powerful counterparts.

In other news, water is wet.

If you want to play on the PS5 Pro, then go right ahead.

S2Killinit10d ago

Well there is a significant difference (as expected).

Neonridr8d ago

actually I just played the game last night on my Switch 2. Figured I'd give the demo a try. I was playing it docked, and it looked great on my LG OLED. Framerate felt smooth, maybe a minor hiccup here or there, wasn't really noticing.

And for everyone who's griping about hair and or some reflections / lighting.. half the time you aren't even looking at the characters because you are busy focusing on a box off to the right so you can do proper button combinations in order to utilize the hacking of your character.

It's a strange game, not sure if it's my cup of tea. I'd have to download the demo and try on my PS5 Pro to see if it wows me or something there. But the game still looked and ran really nice on the Switch 2.

Neonridr11d ago

looks really good. Solid port.

cue the people who go off on the hair, since that seems to be the cool thing to gripe about (even though it looks perfectly fine).

repsahj11d ago

I am playing the demo right now on Switch 2, the game is great. The controls are responsive, and the action is fast paced. I might get it now because of the demo. XD Later after work, I will try the PS5 demo.

Moegooner10d ago

The Switch 2 is one gen ahead of PS5. There's nothing impressive about this.

Neonridr10d ago

mobile vs console, totally different gens if you ask me. Hard to compare because traditional console systems will always be more powerful compared to a handheld equivalent. But we've come a long way since the DS.

Christopher10d ago

Considering they go after the same market, no, not totally different generations. Switch isn't going for the mobile gamer market, they're absolutely going for the console gaming market.

Neonridr8d ago

@Christopher - expecting a mobile based chipset to rival a traditional console is silly and you are only setting yourself up for expectations that won't be met. Understanding that a device that is about 1/20th the size of a PS5 is still capable of putting out these results is impressive in itself. Does it look better on the PS5 Pro? Absolutely. Would the game look even better on my Ryzen 7 9800X3D + 3080? Also yes. Does that mean the PS5 version is garbage? No. I expect it to look the best on my gaming PC since it's the most powerful device I own. I expect the Switch 2 version to come with some caveats. And I'm okay with that. I'm playing it for convenience, or portability, etc. If I want the best visual experience possible I would go PC.

Alek8310d ago

Looks surprisingly good for the Switch. I expected larger FPS dips or a severe graphical downgrade. Looks like I was wrong. I played the demo on Steam and plan on picking it up (for Steam) during a sale.

repsahj10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

I tried the demo on PS5, there are a few dips but both modes are very stable. I also tried the other Capcom demo that was released at the same time with this one, the Monster Hunter Stories 3. While on PS5 the framerate was buttery smooth, there was a stuttering on Switch 2 outside of combat, such as exploration in the city and outdoors. I hope they can fix this on Switch 2, because it's not fun to play when the framerate issue is severe.
