I would change the tite and remove PC because the performance is bad on all platforms. This is simply unacceptable for a game to release in this state.

What's worse is I know nothing will change, Fromsoft are not known for fixing old issues, it's like their programmers are just incapable.

Andrew3361417d ago

What clickbait? PC performance sucks.

FPS_D3TH1417d ago

It really do be this lame on Pc. Another fantastic souls port

Nyxus1417d ago

This is specifically about the PC version, because of the performance issues. They recommend the PS5 version.

alb18991417d ago

If you have VRR tv then the recometion is the SX.

iplay1up21417d ago

alb1899 is right. Digital Foundry analysis showed SX VRR on TV's that support it framerates appeared much smoother.

Nyxus1417d ago

Okay, but then you need a tv that supports that feature. I don't, so I'd rather look at the performance of the game itself, regardless of which screen you use.

KingofBandits1417d ago

Its really not though. Elden Ring is a great game marred by horrible performance on all platforms, thus making it a good to decent game. Poorly coded game engines are just as much a reason to knock points off a score or tell people to be mindful of as bad game design.

PC master race at it again. The really think with brute force , gaming is instantly infinitely better. This happens far to often seeing PCs having a rough start. Anyways docking 3 point because its not running brilliantly on ultra settings tells me you dont deserve to play this masterpiece

FPS_D3TH1417d ago (Edited 1417d ago )

This comment shows me you really don’t understand game development either. It’s very easy to create a game for a single platform or even just a few, despite the fact they couldn’t actually get all the kinks out of the console versions either. But all this really says is From Software either doesn’t have the resources or time to put in effort to optimize the game. It has nothing to do with brute power lmao. You’re comments just another ignorant console gamers take on gaming and shows how little you actually understand what’s going on here.

Palitera1417d ago

"very easy"
So much understanding of game development lol

FPS_D3TH1417d ago (Edited 1417d ago )

@palitera if an entire studio can’t optimize for one single console, they shouldn’t be making games period.

badz1491417d ago

thing is, this time with Elden Ring, even if you brute force the game using the 3090 at 720p lowest setting, the stutters are still there, not even VRR can save you from it LOL

funny stuff

Andrew3361417d ago

This doesn't even make sense. It's a poorly optimized port just like the other from software PC ports.

LightofDarkness1417d ago (Edited 1417d ago )

It's not running well on any settings. You have no idea what you're talking about. I know it's hard to believe, but there are things you don't understand that affect other people more greatly than you imagine. You know, because you don't actually understand them. You ponder on that for a while, perhaps somewhere far away where your expert opinions are more gravely needed.

metabolicfrolic1417d ago

And with that you've proven that you know nothing about the PC ports current issues or how PC gaming works. What a pathetic troll attempt.

MadLad1417d ago

There's actually very few atrocious ports that come to PC, unless there was no effort involved.

Really only Arkham Knight comes to mind.

The truth is FromSoft simply suck when it comes to optimization, no matter how good their games may be.
They've had issues across the board when it came to the 360/PS3 generation.
Then even the PC version of Dark Souls was a mess on PC and barely functioned and needed a modder to fix it, who did it in just a few days.
As much as I love it, Bloodborne is an ugly, jaggy mess that only runs at 30fps and still dips.

Now we're having performance issues across the board for Elden Ring, though the worst on PC.

This has nothing to do with PC as a platform.
This has to do with FromSoft as a developer.

CrimsonIdol1417d ago

There's been a few but yeah most are fine. The vast majority of the time when people say it's a bad port on a PC they usually mean there's no decent settings section, doesn't support UW resolutions, locked framerates, that kind of thing. Meaning a bad PC port usually means it's only as bad as the console version, so it's a bit weird how often the console fanboys feel smug about it. But there's outliers like this now and again. You'd hope they'd fix it up soon enough but FromSoftware don't have a good track record on that at all.

KingofBandits1417d ago

I disagree, the game runs like crap on all platforms. Elden Ring is not a bad game but no masterpiece should launch on platforms that barely hold 45fps its its best instances. Hell XSX drops to 29fps in come cases in its framerate mode. That's terrible, FromSoftware makes great games but they need to nail down the performance issues in their releases

Angyobangyo1416d ago

You fail to ignore that the consoles are also having issues and went straight on the offensive because someone attacked your precious Elden Ring. The fact that if I want to play at a stable 60fps on the PS5, I need to play the PS4 version on the system, or that Xbox players will have a better experience if they have a TV that supports VRR.

While my experience with the game has been nothing but enjoyment, you cannot excuse its technical issues that will hopefully be fixed in the coming weeks.

Im playing on ps5 with the framerate dips and im still enjoying it more than anything i played in the last year.

Palitera1417d ago

If you play the PS4 version, the performance is flawless. Much better.

VenomCarnage891417d ago

That's what I've been hearing, unfortunately I got the PS5 version on disc so I can't even sample the PS4 version. Anyone on the 5 who got it digitally should give that a shot

VerminSC1417d ago

If I download the ps4 version will my save transfer?

Palitera1416d ago

@Vermin: No, sadly. PS4 save transfers to PS5, though.
@Venom: Sorry to hear. Hoping a patch improves it for you!

By the way, Isn't it amazing that the person playing in the video is an expert Elden Ring player? XD
