You can wish all you like but as you said in the article:

"Ubisoft of 2021 is not the same company that made the first game in 2002. Microtransactions are prevalent in nearly every game it releases, and it's even experimenting with NFTs in Ghost Recon Breakpoint now.".

**Cue solemn/ foreboding music**.

Ofc Ubisoft won't mess this up. They will give what the fans want. That's silly customizable costume MTX and rabbid cameos.

Ubisoft won't mess this up. Despite all their issues, they know the value of this IP. Look at Ghost Recon: Breakpoint as a guide. They knew they messed up so they spent resources completely overhauling the game and still updating it even now after 2 years.

I have never stopped playing the Splinter Cell games over the years especially after all of them were added to Xbox back compat and 4K enhanced for the X1X and Series consoles. I was hoping for a new SC not a remake, as it is my favorite all-time series so I am happy for any new SC news. Ubi is my favorite dev love all of their games. 250 hours into Valhalla, love that game, and I am fine with micro transactions. If you are not don't pay.

Hot take. The least liked developed in all of gaming is your favorite. I guess it's your right to like them haha

Some of my all-time favorite games are Ubi games, so, yep, my fav dev/pub. Different strokes✌

Fingers crossed. Hopefully won't be splinter cell: nft theory.

Here’s the thing, Ubisoft knows what the fans want and it’d be such a media nightmare for them if they don’t deliver. I feel like they’ll use this opportunity to get on the fans’ good side and if they don’t, then they are complete idiots.

Please don't be a mobile or free to play game

Software_Lover166d ago

If they screw this up then I just don't know what to tell you.

Travesty166d ago

So I wonder what the release date will be. Probably another 3-4 years. This is good news for the splinter cell fans, Ubisoft needed this. It should be in good hands now.

Dexterio166d ago

I hope they go back to the first three games game style. Didn’t like the newer games that much.

The game was announced much too early, but also people were hounding Ubisoft about Splinter Cell for years, so they wanted placate them by making the announcement.

It's normal for games to "go dark", no reason to worry about it. In our age of social media and glut of releases everyone has to turn everything into a big deal if they don't get what they want immediately. Just be patient and let them develop the game.

And let's hope they don't turn it into a modern Ubishit game, packed with mundane boring filler, and ways to artificially extend the length of the game. Experience points, skill trees, resource collecting, grinding for equipment upgrades. None of that trash belongs in Splinter Cell.

Husker42c896d ago

We are talking about Ubisoft. Of course all that crap will be shoehorned into the game.

Chocoburger896d ago

Old Ubisoft was amazing. Modern Ubisoft I mostly ignore these days. It's a shame because they have so much potential.

Fond memories of the OG trilogy. Hope they do right by it.

Ubisoft and remakes seen to be cursed still waiting for Prince of Persia Sands of Time

RaidenBlack896d ago

well ... one thing's positive in that ... they're using the snowdrop engine for this remake, which looks better than Ubisoft's Anvil engine.
Snow drop is a stunning engine have been used in the Division series as well will be powering the upcoming Avatar and Star Wars Outlaws
