PlayStation Plus Surprises Subscribers With New Free PS4 Game

Sony has surprised PlayStation Plus subscribers with a new free PS4 game ahead of the reveal of June 2021's free games, which leaked yesterday. Unfortunately, if you're on PS5, Sony has nothing for you, but the game can be played on the new PlayStation console via backward compatibility. You won't be able to download the game via the PS5 console storefront, but you can via the web version of the PlayStation Store.

This is incorrect. It's listed under "PS Plus Exclusive Packs" under the Playstation Plus tab on the Playstation Store directly on a PS5. That's where I redeemed and downloaded it.

@SullysCigar You (We all) pay for air in taxes. (Car taxes) Companies pay for air in flue gas taxes. Some developing countries also pay for air by their health (China).Haters gonna hate, but if you think anything is free then you are just dumb ignorant. To get free shit from Sony you have to pay for the plus program.

Actually, Sony literally gave away a handful of pretty decent games for free recently, no PS+ requirement even. So that is more a rhetorical statement than factual, even in regard to the company in reference alone.

Pretty sure despite having Horizon and the DLC on Disc I got a completely free digital copy of the complete edition as well as Ratchet and Clank, even though I also had on disc. I'm trying to wonder what's the catch when all you needed to have was an account that's completely free?

Again you are paying for the console for which were the exclusives and other games developed. Haha and don't give me another "they just gave me free games" bullshit... its all game. You are sheep, you are prey of marketing. Why do you think Epic store is giving out games for "free"?? So that they can sell you the next 10 games in which they additionally get double of their initial investment with the "free game" value they lured you on. Don't bullshit your self seriously. That is an excellent question my friend!
I'll be honest to say that will all the games given by Sony, MS, Epic, etc.
It's actually hard to find time to play them :)
Quick question How many games from PS+, GWG, Epic, etc that you have in your libraries?

It bothers me a little when something is offered for those who have a paid subscription, but that something is said to be "free". You're paying for the subscriptions, and the games are offered as part of the service.
Not even Sony themselves call these games free: https://www.playstation.com...
"In addition, PlayStation Plus membership includes monthly PS4 games to download"
The only mention of free things is the trial for 14 days.

That makes no sense. If the service description said "membership includes X games per month" but Sony gave X+1, it would make sense. But the number of games is not set. So what would "an additional game" even mean?

look at it this way... youre paying for their service of being able to play online and use their servers.. and as a bonus you get few additional games at not extra cost to you.. i mean they can always remove the extra games and just make us pay for the network and thats it.. more people would be mad.

Hey are free as a perk of the service. If the service was 2 games a month then you are right but the service is for online access on Multiplayer games as well as cloud saves. As a bonus of being a member you get 2 free games a month. My point is Sony can remove the 2 free games and still have the service hence why they are free behind membership.
