GamingFront.net First Impression: HOME beta

Assuming that the content from publishers keeps growing into an expansive list of things to see and do, Home could honestly top Xbox Live. In a year or two we could be seeing Microsoft and Nintendo jumping on the bandwagon. Home really could be the next step in Social Networking, a living breathing world to shop, mingle with friends and play games. As long as the content is there, Home will become the next big craze.

it could actually top xbox live in a year or two if alot publishers come on to home, and make alot of interactive content, with clothes, downloadable content, and games. Its easy to talk to people, play games with them, and hang out at their home.
If sony sets up game set up, and sets up home with your content on your hardrive to show other people, then yes this could top xboxlive.

If they can keep the netcode up, after a couple years there will be a lot of ps3 owners and the biggest challenge will be managing home's backend. The biggest turn off to social site are if they don't work properly for people to get the info, updates and chatting they want.

^^^

I agree with both of you, you just said everthing I wanted to say

" In a year or two we could be seeing Microsoft and Nintendo jumping on the bandwagon. Home really could be the next step in Social Networking, a living breathing world to shop, mingle with friends and play games. As long as the content is there, Home will become the next big craze"

Google just unplugged its "3D Virtual World" - lively.com.

The masses stopped caring about "3D virtual worlds" about 4 years ago. Want to see how "next big craze" Home is going to be? Go and see how well Second Life is doing these days.

Why do you think even GOOGLE got out of the "3D virtual world" business? BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY DOLL-HOUSE.

Comparing Home to Xbox LIVE is totally retarded, they are apples and oranges. What LIVE accomplishes is totally unrelated to what Home accomplishes.

Home is great. You meet new people and having conversations is pretty fun. It can even be greater if Sony implements more features, which I suspect they will.

I hope, im not the only one who missed cherrypie! Cherrypie sure is funny!

Home is going to get copied. I wonder if xbox360's Avatars is gonna get scrapped though once they try to implement a Home like copy. I mean, wouldnt they also want better visuals, graphics, etc? Or are they gonna implement a city that's very cartoonish too?

antt36372d ago

And comparing Home to second life is equally as (to use your expansive vocabulary) "retarded." Besides being a social networking application for PS3 users, it's a place to meet and launch your PS3 online games. The mainstay of this application is expanding online gaming.

superflyguy6372d ago

I tried home for N. America, Europe, and Japan. They're quite different, especially the main space. The japanese version of home is soo good.

I just downloaded it. However, as it was loading up I got this horrible static noise in my audio that was even present in my XMB. I searched on google and saw some people had issues with it also. Needless to say, I uninstalled it but the static type noise was still there until I loaded on of my games and it went away. Weird. I don't know if I want to chance it again for fear of the noise returning and maybe not going away next time.

xhi46373d ago

mate you need to reset your system settings.

The same thing happened to me when I customised my audio settings and selected some PCI or something that was not meant to be selected, and whenever I would load up a game it would give me a horrible static noise.

It has nothing to do with the game your playing or Home, just reset your system settings and you'll be fine. And when you reset your system settings don't go in and customise your audio settings unless you know what to do.

Handsome_Devil6373d ago

Or maybe you could send an email to sony support about it

just a thought :)

Athlon6373d ago

Two disagrees? WoW I was just stating an issue for help. I didn't say that Home beta sucked or anything. Thanks xhi4. I saw that I do that PCI selected. However, it's been on that setting since I got my 60gig at launch. I'll try it one more time before emailing Sony.

JokerSGS: MK vs DC isn't bad in my opinion. I got it off amazon for only $40 bucks. It's a good game to play with friends. I was never really a fan of all the grotesque violence in the series. It actually turned me away. It's definitely worth a rental. That's what I did before buying it, especially since there won't be any decent fightback game from now till Christmas 09 aside from this release. Thanks Namco-Bandia for dropping the ball.

kyleg6373d ago

last time i remember i play games not home so why the hell would i go in to home and make a house and talk to some people when i can just play some real games. im i right?

So, I Finally Played Home

I recently published an article about beating my Steam backlog by getting organised and the first game I’ve completed with this new approach is Home.

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
