I can totally empathize. The worst is when a new game comes out, pop it in a play just a bit to get a taste, and then you go back to finish up the 30 in your backlog. By the time you get back to play your newest, it’s on sale for half price. Flash sales kill me too.
I’ve decided to focus on two at a time...of course because of this GAAS, most games anymore will be never ending.
Hate to complain though. I enjoy this hobby of mine.

Im so glad this article exists. Im having this problem now, I signed up for game pass and this problem just multiplied greatly! So many games now, feels overwhelming.

A part of me misses the PS2 era. Buy a great single player game, took about 8 hours to complete, relish it then move on to the next game. Now it's so different. Games are much bigger, longer, DLC, multiplayer etc

I don't buy a game unless i am prepared to play it through to its conclusion.

I am taking advantage of the Corona virus situation to work through the backlog. That said the struggle is real. Way too many games in my backlog.

Studies have shown that any more than 7 options stalls our ability to decide on something.

Specifically, there is a bit of a meme in the pirating community that goes back as long as pirating that's called "Pirate's Syndrome". It's when an overabundance of options ruins or removes your desire to partake. In this case it's games and it happens if they're bought or stolen but definitely more if stolen.

I’m in the same boat. On the plus side, if my government forces me into lockdown I have many times the entertainment I’ll need.

I remember thinking that I'd be able to finish my PS3 backlog between PS4 games. That never happened. This gen I've purchased more games between PS4/X1X/PC then any other time in my life. Let's not forget all of the free games from different services. There's too many to count. I do feel overwhelmed at times. Sometimes I spend 15 minutes trying to figure out what I'll play and end up just watching Netflix. I realized now that I need to plan my games out the day before. Just go straight to the game and avoid getting sidetracked. I don't know about everyone else but I enjoy games more when I play early in the morning. I feel like I can focus more on finishing a single player game that way. Usually after all of the chaos ends in the evening I tend to play grindy/GaaS. It's mainly the GaaS that prevent me from getting back into my backlog.

Can never have too many games if you're a collector problem is you just get too many games on that back burner to play when the newer games come out. No problem looking at a bookshelf with a collection of games that span different console eras

I hit that brick wall sometimes. I have so many games to play that I end up not playing anything because I get tired of trying to decide.

I find it more satisfying to only have two or three games on the go at any one time and to only throw another into the mix when I'm finished with one of them. Saves me money because I don't buy many games at launch and it's good to actually finish something before moving on.

Just checked my steam account, game folder, gog, etc and its 693 games. I've played around 40 of them and I completed 2.

I'll complete them all eventually. I only have like 30 games in my backlog

I have at least 10 big games in my backlog to finish & hopefully since I'm going to be off for 3 weeks or more I can finish at least 4 to 5 of them but then there are about 5 games releasing within the next few months that I want..lol.

Noticed that now that I got game pass. Don’t want to play any of them yet I’m paying monthly for it so mine as well. Hopefully Playstation doesn’t try and push a similar thing next gen because definitely feel like Microsoft’s putting a lot into something I don’t care for

If having a huge amount of games is what you call a "problem", I would LOVE to have that problem. There is no such thing as having too many games. It means the platforms you're playing on are healthy.

I blame Steam. It was manageable before I bought a gaming PC but some of those Steam sale deals are hard to ignore.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
