All Pokémon ever needed was a rival, a professor, a pushy mom that wanted the house to herself, and a straight line from zero to champion.

NE: "Today, we're looking at Pokemon with odd or unfitting moves as part of their movepools and examining whether they were by accident or not."

NE: "Today, we're going over some of the most forgotten Pokemon of all time."

NE: "We list and rank 10 of the best Pokemon games of all time! More specifically, which of the main series games are best to play."
It should be:
1) Gold/Silver/Crystal
2) Red/Blue/Yellow
3) Ruby/Saphire/Emerald
The rest can be put in any order you want.
I liked Sword/Shield (Which didn't even make the list) way more than Scarlet/Violet, but everyone has opinions.
the amount of games with forced exp share making this list is depressing
even games like ranger or colleseum/ XD
or mystery dungeon, way more deserving
As long as it's cute Nostalgic and Nintendo, everybody will eat it up.
People say the same thing for Dragon Quest
I don't think people are asking for a complete overhaul of the formula. I've put in about 10 hours now and I am constantly amazed by the lack of effort that was put into modernizing the game at all. A game on a console that can play Breathe of the Wild no longer has any excuse to not have fully voiced cutscenes. It has no excuse to have the most basic of animation during those cutscenes. No excuse to still have graphics that resemble something coming out of the GameCube era.
If it wasn't for the main gameplay loop still being solid, I would have skipped this entry. But if this lack of effort is still present in the next entry, then I am definitely skipping it. I wanted a Pokemon game on my Switch so I could overlook the problems this time but they only get one pass from me.
I wouldn’t say it’s a problem of being too old-fashioned, because I’m sure as heck open to change, so long as it’s the right change. No, the core of the formula doesn’t need to change, but fun additions have been great in the past.
Restrictions that weren’t present in past games are never a good thing regardless of the series and they’re not great here. A current-gen and first mainline console Pokémon game should have been better, especially at the full console new release price per version.
Sure, the core of Pokémon is here, and that’s great for casual fans, but Sword and Shield are just a disappointment compared to past entries.
Doesn't need new formula, but sure need more polish and lots of work! Pokemon is one of the largest ip in the world and gamefreak need to step up theirs standars for the series, sword and shield is a major let down, imho.
