To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

I actually don’t want it current Ubisoft is all about open world games with microtransactions I don’t want to see Splinter Cell going that route.
An always online game.
I don't understand why when it comes to the Splinter Cell IP Ubisoft has to stealthily bring the series back(other than using analogies) when they can reinvent a huge property like Assassins Creed, Watchdogs or fund new IP's Ike For Honor, Skull and Bones or Gods & Monsters!
Why not just get back to basics but with contemporary twists. Surly modern tech could see a Splinter Cell game that so many fans want. Also it doesn't need to be open world. Why not take a page from the recent Hitman games?!?! Have Sam travel all over the globe and each area is a vast open area that can see the objectives completed in a number of ways.
Have cloak and dagger play a big part and they could also update the ahead of its time spy's vs mercs. I don't see the hesitation because I think if done right it could be a really great series once again!
Online only co-op, cosmetic microtransactions, pay to win, empty openworld, am I close ?
