Hopefully the Day 1 update fixes the lackluster story.

Lets just say Andromeda was a damn good campaign in comparison.

Peruzzi2681d ago

5000+ hours in Diablo 3 and I dont even remember SLIGHTLY what the story was so, i guess you dont understand the goal of a LOOTING game lol

pandehz2681d ago (Edited 2681d ago )

A looting game has loot that matters. Here the guns barely have an impact. A looter game is built to get in and out. Here you can barely get in with the load times. The loot table in Diablo is much bigger. Diablo has multiple characters with a large number of skills to build on. Diablo has chapters, acts, with a fully fleshed out story with end of act cutscenes and multiple bosses each with a unique setting and mechanic. Everything in diablo encourages activity. Here im discouraged to open the forge because it loads, scared to go back to tarsis because of long mission end load followed by fort tarsis load. But you have to end mission coz you cant leave mid way even if your house is falling apart or you wont get loot and xp. In diabo as soon as you pick up anything its saved to you. The list is endless. Anthem wants to be diablo and destiny so bad that it doesn’t know what it is.

Even after all that Anthem is still fun but its not anything great. Once people play through the story and want to rush and loot, they’ll realise that the loads, the mission types and the scarce enemy types, the useless guns and the no text chat communication are all just hampering their experience.

@pandehz, I guess you not buying Anthem then...

pandehz2681d ago

@Digitally Affected

I preordered. I am a huge bioware fan and own all of their games but I now have no doubt that Bioware died years ago when the founders quit the company. I Played Alpha, demo and also early access with my buddy. I always play the game before i say anything. I will play it for as long as I can take it. I’m just tempering people’s expectations and sharing my opinion.

I doubt that you know ANYTHING about Anthem´s story and lore. Here: Share your thoughts and enlighten us:

Anthem/EA apologists: "The demo build is old, the full game will fix these issues" .. now it's "wait for the day one patch" so what's the PC release my friends are playing now then? Bioware are turning into Bethesda with their buggy releases of late.

Dissidia2681d ago

Your friends are playing the game in early access. In other words they’re playing the game ahead of its official day 1 release with the absence of a day 1 patch.

rdgneoz32681d ago

They never patched it for pre release... The game isn't officially out yet.

yomfweeee2681d ago

They should have had the Day 1 patch ready for the early access official release.

rdgneoz32681d ago

@yom You do know that after they fix bugs and get everything together into a patch, it has to pass certification with multiple companies (MS, Sony, etc). Certification takes a bit (why are the companies going to rush when it's not out yet or game breaking?) and if there's any problem it has to get resent for certification again. And if you want to complain about early access games having bugs, there are tons of them on the PC and xbox in their early access programs, and you paid to play it ahead of the release and day 1 patch.

Peruzzi2681d ago

EARLY ACCESS is not FULL RELEASE ... I love how pc gamer are testing this game for free so we, console players, get a cleanier version at launch ... thanks guys

Lon3wolf2681d ago

Only for certain issues, other bugs could arise because of the console os which will not show on PC.

DigitallyAfflicted2681d ago (Edited 2681d ago )

What’s wrong with that? I don’t see a better test for servers and massively online game then actually letting 1000s of gamers play it and from the look of it as far BioWare is listen to feedback so it means that they do care about Anthem being successful and profitable investment.

I do get that it’s early days and it’s hard to trust agein in Bioware and EA and yes it’s good to be sceptical and we shouldn’t put up with being lied to and ripped off of our money buy any one.
But let’s be fair too. As far most of the guys playing Anthem on PCs are quite happy with the game!

rpgenius4202681d ago

It's still a really fun game!

Ricegum2681d ago

The combat is so much fun.

alb3rt2680d ago

The progression in this game is bad. Disappointed after all the hype.

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

Christopher158d ago

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN170d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo168d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus171d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn170d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover170d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
