‘Doom’ Makes Argument for Switch as Simultaneous Release Platform, Dev Says

The Nintendo Switch could soon be the sort of platform that gets the same games at the same time as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to the head of Panic Button Games.
Adam Creighton, director of development and co-owner of Panic Button also noted that the developer will have a new major port for the Switch to talk about next month.

Good! The more parity in release timing they aim for, the better the chance they'll have at higher sales.
I know there's exceptions, but generally the last version of a game to come out is the one that sees the least amount of sales, because the common consumer isn't as patient as devs wish they were.

Dragon Quest XI should be coming to the Switch in September.

I always wondered how much delayed releases and re releases affected third party sales of AAA games on the Switch. I guess we'll soon find out! Meanwhile I am concerned with the absence of CoD or Assassin's Creed games which both made it to the Wii U!

To be fair, the CoD's on Wii U arrived with 99% of their additional content missing.
That lack of content was a far bigger influence on the lack of sales it experienced than anything else.

If the devs deigned to put a Call of Duty on the Switch, it would sell far far better than it did on the Wii U, without question.
It coming late might hit the sales a bit, but it wouldn't stop it from doing good, with the number of units the Switch has sold.

Panic Button has been doing awesome work on all of their ports and content. I’m pretty much game for anything they bring. It’s really good to hear them say something like this about Switch. The hardware is solid and games play great on it, and I’ll usually pick a switch build over others if I want to play the game on the go. It improves the value proposition for me a lot. These guys definitely get that.

I play a lot more in portable mode than I ever thought I would.

A few playable ports done well after release doesn't make Switch a great place to make games for simultaneously. Look what happened with PS Vita games there were actually quite a few games made for Vita and PS3 hardware at the same time and sometimes under the same studio. It was too much work. Ultimately the power differential between PS Vita and PS4 is about the same too which is to say that Switch is about 1/6 the power of PS4 on paper. In practice (going by software) it looks to be much closer only halving framerates and still dealing with performance under 30hz plus cut down visuals ultimately still doesn't appear too bad but comparisons with last gen software show Switch in the least favorable light.

Many ported games from last gen look and/or run better on last gen hardware than they do on Switch.

Hero Shooter ‘Last Flag’ by Imagine Dragons Singer Peaks at 558 CCU at Launch

It’s been a rough few days for Last Flag, the third-person “hide and seek” hero shooter that’s best known for being developed by the lead singer of arena pop-rock band Imagine Dragons. The game launched on April 14 and has only managed a peak concurrent user count of 558, which has already led to unfortunate comparisons with 2024’s Concord.
