Microsoft showed all multiplats.

Microsoft had a great presentation, they just didn't present anything, well other than redundant sequels and yet another money-hatted developer. Sony didn't waste time sugarcoating their games that speak for themselves and just showed us what we wanted to see. Sony didn't get anything wrong, they're the only ones who understand what gamers wanted to see and they crushed it.

For me Sony had the best games, so they did at least do something right.

Sometimes I wonder if idiots who write these kinds of articles watch these conferences in their entirety.

I can already feel the grey hairs begin to form as this topic drags on. I've never understood the need to "win" a conference, and that's coming from a Sony fan who's been given back to back to back showcases that made me pumped and happy.

From what I've gathered the general consensus is, as far as overall conferences go (so the wow/awe factor) Microsoft had their best in recent years. Sony, while offering an unfortunate drag of a showcase, did reveal the best looking games, games in which only they offer. I appreciate the more in depth look we got on those 4 main IP's.

Lol for me the one that wins is the one with more games to play, still ps4 is the place to play, ms did a better job, bit to win e3 is to win gamers.... I dont ms doing that still....

Personally, I can't say ms won. Every great game outside of gears and Forza is on ps4 as well. They gave me more reassurance for ps4 than they gave reason for Xbox. Why. If 2 great titles are on one list and Sony shows a bunch of great titles for ps4 not Xbox. Why would ms win? It's about what's the appeal. PS lineup is way more promising based on that

On presentation yes, but when comes down to substance of actual exclusive games Sony all the way. Think about it, in the next 18 months we will be able to play Spiderman, Days Gone, Dreams, The Last of Us 2 and Ghosts of Tsushima only exclusive on the PS4. Death Stranding a 2020 title.
Most of the games at Microsoft's conference were multi-platform and we know Halo will be next gen so that only leaves Gears and Forza, good games no doubt but compared to the titles mentioned above no comparison.

This was probably the worst E3 ever in regards to exclusives being announced for consoles. Sony had nothing. Nintendo had nothing. Microsoft had the usual suspects sequels.

Myself, as someone who doesn't attend, judge these conferences on new reveals. So, Microsoft won easily on this.

Compared to the exclusives from Microsoft ... I just don't see how they got it wrong. I own both consoles and I'm happy to see Halo 5, but the rest of the games aside from Forza, Gears and Crackdown are multi-platform, no?

Honesly, and i am being serious with this one, evening though I am a PS4 player, the MS conference was decent, but I dont see how it can be a "win", as a non-Xbox owner I can play 90% of what MS showed in their conference.
Whereas, even though the format of Sony's conference was a mess, what they showed is PS4 exclusive and some of the best footage shown on a games console.

Microsoft’s presentation style is very scripted (which I don’t like) but it’s quality of production is very high as they spend a lot of money on it.

Sony’s presentation is organic (more natural/ which is good) but their quality of production is low, so the show seemed cheap (and it is because they penny pinch)

As to games, Microsoft’s doesn’t have a lot of merit (in form of exclusives), while Sony’s conference was filled with heavy hitting exclusives, but no surprises this time which took away the mystery or the excitement away from E3.

Microsoft didn't show nothing new that make any gamer buy their console. That's the point of E3. Pump gamers for the rest of the year. Sorry but another Forza just doenst cut. If all those 3rd party games were exclusives, then they would have win, but they aren't.

I really don't care how sony shows their games. We just saw 4 of the best gameplay trailers ever on E3. Some think they are fake. They were all amazing and running on a PS4. This wasn't something running in high end PC or some make up teaser trailer.

Everybody was expecting a huge trailer from HALO and the reality is that the next HALO will be in the Xbox Two. Teaser trailer with nothing...

Sony pretty much told everyone what their E3 conference was going to be like weeks ahead of time. There were no huge surprises, the venue was low key compared to previous years and they didn't showcase a bunch of third party games. So, you pretty much got what they said they were going to deliver.

MS put on a show. The show was comprised, mainly, of third party games. The biggest announcement was the acquisition of 5 studios. It was, basically, the big show conference people have come to expect.

When all is said and done MS now has more first party studios. They still have no where near the number of Studios Sony has. Despite the high tech show MS put on Sony still has the best exclusives for the remainder of this console cycle and are in prime position to continue their dominance into the next console cycle. Maybe MS did win E3. Good for them. I'm sure they would rather have Sony's market share than an E3 conference win.

Microsoft didn't win e3 most games they showed are coming to PS4 to they announced Forza Gears and Halo games they said they don't rely on but keep making. Big deal they bought some studios but they bought RARE and how is RARE fairing on Xbox?? Not to well same with the State of Decay developer. State of Decay has over 2 million downloads in a week or so Nintendo had that many downloads for Fornite on Switch in 1 day in my opinion Sony won e3 followed by Microsoft then Nintendo. As an Xbox owner Microsoft isn't making me want any games on their consoles and nothing makes me want an Xbox One X.

All the games shown at the PlayStation E3 I wanted to play. it wasn't the best conference but strictly talking about games that one had me the most excited. Microsoft had a good show as well but buying studios isn't exciting in my opinion and third party games aren't really wins either. EA won when they announced Skate 4 oh wait.....

Neither MS/SONY won E3 this year. However, I think Sony future looks brighter than MS because the few games Sony showed at E3 showcased games that look and feel next gen to me. MS not so much.

no one won fs, this years e3 sucked. yes we saw games like smash, The last of us 2 and other gems, but literally every "press conference or showcase" was a let down in some way.
and to say that microsoft won? with what? the 100th entry of halo? or gears of war? or forza? please. we knew they couldnt let those games not to be shown.

Am i the only person who views E3 as a showcase and not a competition? Some did better then last year and some did not, overall it was a good E3 in my book.

I can't believe people in general lol! I am hearing people say this E3 was the worst? Ha did any of you guys saw E3 08? That was the worst E3 of all time! Literally no new announcements, just games we already knew was coming out. This years E3 we got Dying Light 2, Gears 5, Devil May Cry 5, Metro Exodus, Fallout 76, Last Of Us 2 and so many heavy hitters! We all got to see more gameplay! Heck we saw 30 minutes of Mario Smash Bros Switch Showing off 30 minutes of a complete walkthrough of the entire game! One more thing on Last Of US 2.

Last Of Us 2 had great gameplay that feels like a violent action drama! But some gamer's reaction was angry towards Ellie being a Lesbian, even though that was already established in the Left Behind DLC of the first game! Heck Ellie looking like Ellen Page was a dead giveaway before that fact! WTF man? So what if she was a Lesbian lol! Her sexuality is not the main focus of the trailer. Last Of Us 2 was literally the best showing of E3 out of all games! Its my best of show! Sony E3 conferences was by far the best with again Last Of Us 2, Spiderman, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Nioh 2, and so many announced despite it being short! Microsoft E3 Conference was just more of the same, with almost no games coming at the end of this year! Yes they bought some more studios, but none of their games are coming out anytime soon. Gears 5 and Crackdown 3 is coming out next year, so all we got is Forza Horizon 4, and some changes? Not mention any multiplatform games because none of those are exclusive. Plus for PC gamers they still have no reason to buy the Xbox One X other than using it as a 4K Blu Ray Player.

Take away the multiplatform announcements and the Microsoft show was terrible. Sony had the best showing of exclusives. TLoU, Tshushima, Death Stranding, and Spiderman wowed people. We saw al the multiplatform games at their own respective conferences anyway. Microsoft didn't show us anything we couldn't just see elsewhere other than Gears, Forza, Halo.

Sony had the best gameplay by far. They have a bevy of heavy hitters coming this year and next. We also have PSX, Paris, and TGS. If they wanted to they could've stuffed the show with more games, but they chose to focus on 4 while Microsoft chose to focus on other people's games. Different strokes. I prefer amazing gameplay from exclusives over multiplatform trailers that you can see at Bethesda, Ubisoft, EA's conference ect

As great as the both platforms exclusive content was, I can only see tlou and potentially halo to release next year (with gears confirmed 2019) Wouldn’t be surprised if death stranding holds out for PS5 release - playable on PS4 too

I think they both did a good job. They just took drastically different approaches. MS went heavy with 3rd party stuff and only a few true exclusives while Sony went heavy on the exclusives and bizarrely did a venue switch after the first game shown.

As a viewer on youtube, no Sony's conference wasn't very engaging and the pacing was off - mostly because of the intermission. I think 2016 was their best format and left really happy with everything that was announced.

As an E3 attendee in that audience, I imagine their experience was what Sony was focused on and having spoken to an attendee, they said they loved it and it was one of the best experiences they've had at E3 because they were immersed in the environment created around them. Annoyed by having to switch venues, but "worth it".

Sony undoubtedly had the best games lineup, the most intriguing announcements and while Microsoft is setting itself up well for the future, (GamesPass is awesome, BC is absolutely phenomenal the way they have handled it) Sony has a track record of success with its developers and ultimately, even as exciting as MS buying Ninja Theory and those other developers is, we don't know what will come from it.

Let's hope they don't neuter their flexibility creativity like they did with Rare, or create studios dedicated to solely produce yearly franchise games that don't quite resonate the way they once did.

As someone who prefers PlayStation over Xbox, in my honest opinion, Microsoft's E3 was better. If you wanna argue that Microsoft's was worse because the showed the same new games, or that Sony's was better because they have GOTY contenders, that's where I disagree.
Yes Microsoft showed games we saw coming (Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4), but at least they showed NEW 1st party games, and new features coming soon. Sony showed NOTHING new in terms of 1st party. They showed games that we already knew about, and some third party stuff. And their games being GOTY contenders was not enough to win the conference in my honest opinion. Sony's games are going to be amazing, no doubt about that, but their conference for me was a letdown.

Sony's format was all wrong, if they stuck to the old format and showed the same games but in a different more streamed line manner with a little bit more talking between gameplay it would of been a very good e3 for them. Microsoft showed off more games, but did they really announce more games? A new Halo, a new Forza and a new Gears. Nothing surprising there. Then there was 2 new games Devil May Cry 5, which was heavily rumored and Dying Light 2. Both had a good showing, but both are also multiplatform. And of course Battletoads

So while Microsoft technically had 6 new games being shown off, only 3 were actually new to the public. Where two ofthem were multiplatform.

Sony showed off less games, but had arguably 2 of the best games of the show being shown off. Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. However they also announced 3 new games. Resident Evil 2 Remake, which was heavily rumored, Control and Nioh 2. One of which is very likely an exclusive.

My point is that this idea that Microsoft showed off so many games isn't really as relevant as some want to make it out to be. One could easily argue that Sony's conference had more surprises when it came to games being announced.

Overall Microsoft's conference hit on a few of the spots they really needed. Which is one of the reasons the acquisition part of the conference felt so meaningful. It was a way for Microsoft to show that they were dealing with the biggest criticism being thrown in their direction. Namely their lack of investment in first party studios and properties. Other than that the conference was exactly like it has been the last couple of years. Throwing a ton of multiplatform games at our faces with a muddled message about exclusivity.

I don't know. It is arguably more even than it has been in a while. However, this is by no means the slaughter people want to make it out to be. I know we all, well most, want Microsoft to bring their A game, but this wasn't really that. It was a step up yes, but nowhere near a knockout performance.
