Mass Effect: Andromeda has no doubt had a rough development and post-launch period. However, BioWare is attempting to keep the multiplayer balanced with another patch.

Not keen on beating on a dead horse but is anyone still playing Andromeda online? Hell, is anyone stil playing Andromeda?

Lon3wolf3011d ago

I would say it would be odd to release a patch if no one is playing the MP but you never know. I'm one of the ones that enjoyed it as a game (SP only) but it was not a good ME game.

execution173011d ago

Almost tempted to since I'm 3 trophies away from the Platinum trophy

Godmars2903011d ago

When considering that it sold in the million regardless of reaction, someone likely is.

OB1Biker3011d ago (Edited 3011d ago )

I enjoyed the single player very much and many Gamers too. Its like asking if anyone is still playing X single player game a year after release. Its no dead horse.
The mp experience is heavy with crappy MT s though. A friend of mine spent a lot in it

UltraNova3011d ago

I did not take a jab at it as a single player game but rather one that suffered negative reactions from the get go and got passed up as a result. Hope that clarifies my position.

rainslacker3011d ago (Edited 3011d ago )

I'm playing it right now.

Would be fine, except the story is uninteresting, and traversing the worlds is quite the chore. I can get over the silly dialogue and rough animations, but the story/information relayed in that dialogue is just so dull. It's like it's trying to be Game of Thrones...without all the intrigue, drama, likeable/hatable characters, and good acting.

The relationships themselves are quite dumb, and they had to go from nuanced comments for building love, to just plain old "flirt". And then when you do flirt, and it's like it's written by a 13 year old.

I'm 3-1/2 worlds in, and I can say they've driven out my interest in who the remnant are, or what their purpose may be, or the relationship between the only two sentient alien races that exist in the game. I actually thought it might be interesting after the prologue when the bad guy leader seemed to have some emotion after viewing the activation of the vault, but it seems that their motivations are just plain ol' boring cliched evil because they think they're better than everyone else religious zealots.

What's worse is I hate Sudoku, and the only puzzles in the game revolve around them.

The profiles seem like it should make the game interesting, but outside of telling you you could have them, they dont tell you how to use them. I'm playing a biotic, and for the most part, I don't even need to change profiles. Singularity and throw tend to smack the enemies around enough that you can just hide under cover and let your team mates do most of the work, while you single out individual enemies to fight. I think I'd prefer more access to the powers so it's easier to be more active in the battle, and more fun. Maybe I'll look up how to switch them up at some point.

OB1Biker3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

No worries. I think enough time has passed now and the discussions dont have as much chance to get toxic as they used to when it released. I m not easily impressed by negativity on the internet. It has 0 influence on what games I decide to play, though it can spoil the enjoyment when you look too much for flaws rather than getting along the ride. A bit like a bad trip when you could have a good trip instead haha.
The bottom line is everyone has different perspectives. When my friend borrowed the game after I was done, I asked him what he thought of the game 'flaws' that the internet was raging about and he just laughed it off.
When he finished the game campaign, he gave me back my copy and went to buy the game.

cue Robin Williams meme: "What year is it?!"

Prince_TFK3011d ago (Edited 3011d ago )

The ship had already sailed. EA has, sadly, killed and ruined another classic franchise.

The Sims, Sims City, Mass Effect, NFS, Dead Space, Command&Conquer, and many others had fallen casualty to EA. I will never buy any of their games again.

cfc833011d ago

I liked Andromeda. Some thing were great, but unfortunately key things such as character/squad connection wasn't there. I hope i'm wrong, but i think Mass Effect may be finished.

Kavorklestein3011d ago

The gameplay is great, even the gfx and and presentation was great despite the weird facial animations, but if just felt kinda half-assed and didn't have the Magic of the trilogy. I feel like it focused WAY too much on the Angara and there were not enough missions, lore, conversations, etc... surrounding other species.
It was still about a 7.5 out of 10 for me, but the trilogy is all 9.5's and 10's... so yeah, kind of a bummer.

cfc833011d ago

Fair comment. Such a pitty nobody can buy the franchise off EA. Apparently quite a few were unhappy working on ME:A.

Germaximus3011d ago

I recently completed the game and even started a new game plus. Not too interested in multiplayer. I definitely liked the campaign.

rainslacker3011d ago

I find some of the loyalty missions good. I think I'd enjoy the main campaign more if there weren't a hundred distractions in the side missions, or the tedious movement from one place to the next. When you enter a mission area, you are stuck there, which is fine, but the paths are extremely linear. Getting to those places though is too much of a chore.

For All Its Flaws, Mass Effect: Andromeda's Approach to Romance is Something ME4 Can Learn From

While Mass Effect: Andromeda was let in several key areas, one of its approaches to romances is something Mass Effect 4 should consider revisiting.

I hope Mass Effect 4 ignores the inferior prequels and instead closely follows the far superior Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age Inquisition.

anast483d ago (Edited 483d ago )

Mass Effect 4 should just make Mass Effect 1 but better with current tech. Fans would be happy. As far as romance, they should take notes from the Witcher and Cyberpunk.

Ristul482d ago

Later Bioware games have to little build up. You can have a normal conversation and all of a sudden BAM! The character you talk to becomes super flirty.

TricksterArrow482d ago

Reminds me of Baldur’s Gate. I wanted to practice some magic and Gale made it super weird. Not even gonna mention Astarion.

gold_drake482d ago (Edited 482d ago )

iii dunno about that.

the only really great and funny dating partner, is that outlaw guy anyways haha he was funny as hell.

other than that, i found every character to be very annoying.

ZeekQuattro482d ago

Shout out to Keri the Asari reporter. Current relationship status be damned as she's game either way. Anything for a good story. 🤣

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast524d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine524d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast524d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman524d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast524d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

IAMRealHooman523d ago

it's like bitch but your shirt back on, your not blue or spikey get away from me

BioWare Thinks Mass Effect Andromeda Was Better Game Than Reception Suggested

BioWare thinks Mass Effect: Andromeda was a better game than what reception suggested; taught the studio not to shoehorn open-world without any meaningful content in it.

I played it and it wasn't as bad as people said. Is it in the 8-10 range? No.

It's a 6-7, which means it's a solid game.

LordoftheCritics559d ago (Edited 559d ago )

Veilguard and Andromeda are of similar level to me.
6 to 6.5 ish

Though I think i enjoyed Andromeda's combat and sense of scale a little bit more.

XBManiac558d ago

Veilguard has better graphics.

neutralgamer1992559d ago

I agree with you It was a 6.5 type game. Gameplay was solid everything else was lacking. Playing at launch with all the issues was just absurd. EA could have let the developers keep patching and fix the game but they stopped just like they did with anthem. It’s crazy to think multi billion dollar publishers can’t afford to keeping patching their games get medium size developers can support the game for years

But when you have android wilson running the company what else can we expect.

OtterX559d ago

Except 6-7 doesn't translate as solid. 6 means a bit flimsy, but still good/enjoyable if you can look past the flaws. 7, a little less flimsy, and enjoyable. 8-10 would be "solid".

But I get your point. I skipped the game entirely, so I don't have an opinion on it.

H9559d ago

I played this game back when I wanted to give every game I bought a fair chance and finish it, it was the reason why I stopped doing so, god the game was bad

TheNamelessOne559d ago

I actually enjoyed Andromeda. It wasn't a 10/10, by any means, but I played it years after the fact, after a lot of patching, and I had a good time with it.

anast559d ago

Same, I enjoyed it too. I might even replay it soon.

TheNamelessOne559d ago

Might do the same, honestly. Went through the trilogy a couple months back.

raWfodog558d ago

I liked it as well, and also played it for the first time over a year after it was released. The original trilogy was a better story overall IMO but I still enjoyed Andromeda.

lellkay559d ago

The game is so unbelivably bad, it's laughable.

pwnmaster3000559d ago (Edited 559d ago )

It really wasn’t. Well for me nd I’m a big fan of the series.
Was it mass effect standard? No
But overall I thought it was a decent game.
6-7/10.

Armaggedon559d ago

You might want to try playing a truly bad game. Go boot up two worlds or gollum to get the perspective you need

MatrixxGT559d ago

Wow, two worlds…red ringed my 360.

Armaggedon559d ago

Lol. Its one of the only games that I have experienced buyers remorse with. The only one I can think of is riders Republic.

matt139559d ago

So delusional, the title was an embarrassment to the original trilogy. it’s the equivalent of 2042 to the battlefield franchise.

thorstein559d ago

2042 had a redemption arc and what exists now is a pretty good FPS.
