Making Games Run On Xbox One X and XB1 Both Can Be More Time Consuming For Devs, Say Everspace Dev

The one question we have often had about the Xbox One X is- does the fact that every game on the Xbox One X also have to support the base Xbox One and Xbox One S hardware curtain developers' ability to leverage the extent of what the One X has to offer?

Eventually segregation of Xbox 1 users but who knows I don't!?

XiNatsuDragnel3110d ago

Are you saying that Xb1x users will get exclusives in the future?

S2Killinit3109d ago (Edited 3109d ago )

its possible isn't it? Didn't MS say something in this regard? like "only if developers ask for it" or something along those lines? (do NOT quote me because I really don't know). No one thing if the x version gets a VR headset then that creates exclusives for it by default.

Also, I always wondered how they are going to have both xbone players and xboxX players play the same multiplayer games. Will the x version have superior FPS? or will they dumb it down so there is no unfair advantage?

fenome3109d ago

Well they did say it was backward and forward compatible so anything is possible.

DeadSilence3110d ago

Poor devs man complaining about time to develop a X game but not blinking when is to put MTS on their games Lmao

freshslicepizza3110d ago

It also takes time on the PC to make sure various cards get supported and various CPU. Article is pointless.

It depends on what they want to do with the Xbox One X enhancements. If it's just a straight resolution increase, the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro don't require much work to provide enhancements. It's when you start increasing graphics quality and texture resolution and then making sure you've got the right balance of performance and visuals on both the original and upgraded machines that it becomes more like making a PC game.

DrumBeat3109d ago

Right, but enhanced textures and the like take extra time.

KillBill3109d ago

Not so when Devs are already working on PC versions of games which is very common. Enhanced textures in those cases are really little than assigning textures to XB1X build.

And even when only a PS4 Pro or XB1X version is worked on... the idea of 4K textures being a time-consuming portion of the build is laughable.

170 devs had no issue doing so with all the enhanced games so this dev shouldnt have a issue either, but if this was about loot crates the dev would be able to do it across all platforms in a day

Aenea3109d ago

Fun fact: implementing lootcrates would be portable across all platforms

rainslacker3107d ago

Did he say it was an issue? He just said it can be more time consuming...which would be obvious, and probably doesn't need to be stated. Any additional work is likely to take time.
