You can never do always on required internet connection right

Nitrowolf23217d ago (Edited 3217d ago )

Their statement is such bs and contradicts itself

"Gold exists for users who want to speed up their army building process. There are people who appreciate having the option. We don’t want to restrict any players from playing our game. So we have the option for those that want a speedy option, and for those that choose to avoid it can do so without any negative impact on their game."

"We don’t want to restrict any players from playing our game"

Ugh

This went from a day one buy, to wait till its in thr bargin bin.

CyrusLemont3217d ago

"We don't want to restrict players from playing our game."

BULLS***

Then release cheat codes that deactivate trophies and "unrestrict" players.

They should have said we want to rip off, manipulate and take advantage of our audience by slowing the progression rate for players and adding "Go to market" hot keys at every menu you try and purchase something when you have insufficient funds.

RpgSama3217d ago

"We don’t want to restrict any players from playing our game. So we have the option for those that want a speedy option"

Do a speed mode or easy mode to speed things up, that's it, no need for MT, and don't say that there is no other way for it.

Spenok3217d ago

Still day one for me. Giving players options that don't affect me in any way doesn't bother me. I can choose to buy them or not. Everything is attainable in game.

Not sure why that bothers people.

mastiffchild3216d ago

@spenok-but how doesnt it affect you? If gamers put up with this then more and more crap will come our way. Since theyre already lying to justify nickle and diming us with pay to win in a full price SINGLE PLAYER game how does anyone suppose this isnt sinister.

People are annoyed because this stinks, will likely make army growth overly grindy to force more to pay and couldve been dealt with by releasing quick or easy modes or just cheat codes.

Bottom line is , in my opinion, the more of us preordering knowing about this the more likely we will be repeatedly shafted on premium games. I honestly think this could hurt us all and theyve lost my sale for now after me being excited to play it.

That is only for the marketplace not the game as a whole

joab7773217d ago

Just the market lol! Anyway micros are only done right when the game is f2p. You can't charge $60 for a game and then ask for more.

I guarantee that if micros are involved, progression has been purposely slowed to incentive buying them. I don't have 3 months to play a sp game. Or what I would play for its sp story and open world.

ninsigma3217d ago

"if micros are involved, progression has been purposely slowed to incentive buying them"
That is now my worry for the game which is why I'm holding off on it now to see how it turns out.

Microtransactions Done Right?

Sounds like an oxymoron to me

robtion3217d ago (Edited 3217d ago )

Indeed.

The first game was great, sounds like someone's getting greedy with the sequel. Between season passes, microtransactions, and pre-order bonuses, this game has it all :(

Microtransaction done right ? Nope.

narsaku3217d ago

I don't know, are they cosmetic only?

..Then yes.

If not?

Haaa...

No. Sorry.

robtion3217d ago

The cosmetic only argument is complete bs. Graphics matter. Cosmetics matter. Full priced games should not include microtransactions.

timotim3217d ago

I think it's more complicated then that. A game like Halo 5 has cosmetic microtransactions in a full priced game, yet gives away all DLC for free. I like this approach quite a bit as it doesn't split the user base. MT's aren't bad just because a game has them...its only when you need to buy them to stay competitive that they are.

FullmetalRoyale3217d ago (Edited 3217d ago )

The only time I'm okay with the micro transactions is when it's only in multiplayer, only cosmetic items, and then all maps are free for everyone.
I don't like micro transaction, but if kids buying them allows me to have free maps and keeps the community together, it at least has a silver lining.

Of course in single player games it is completely gross, and inexcusable. Shadow of Mordor is was one of my favorite games to platinum. It was so much fun.
At least now I have one less game to buy this year, because I do have a lot.
So disappointing.

Top 4 Open World Games With the Best Enemy AI

From Xfire: "Enemy AI is a difficult subject to tackle in video games. Some may argue that current tech isn't advanced enough to implement ultra realistic AI. However, in a world where your phone's AI can book appointments for you, can't it spot a hooded figure hiding in a 'crowd' of four people? In fact, the AI in 2006's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was so smart that the developer had to 'dumb' it down for the final release."

Is Warner’s Nemesis patent really ‘gross’? I’m not sure I’d go that far

From VGC: "A few days ago, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) finally agreed to grant Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment a patent on its “Nemesis” system – a procedural engine which Monolith Entertainment, a WB Games subsidiary, used to bring the world of Middle Earth to life in 2014’s Shadow of Mordor and 2017’s Shadow of War."

Is it gross that the patent "effectively makes exclusive to WB Games the concept of…a player-avatar’s interaction with an NPC affecting the parameters of a second NPC"? Gross WB has attained "exclusive rights to a system which on its face appears to describe most games on the market today"? And they did it to "profit off its licensure or exclusivity at a later time"?

Yeah man. Gross is putting it mildly.

Darkborn1934d ago

Exactly, it's a pretty broad mechanic that a ton of games already have or are developing for right now. Now they have to go back to the drawing board to dumb their games down just to be legal or cough up a ton of dough just to release it.

Ryushaa1934d ago

I will not give this site the pleasure (and revenue) of my click, and I will not waste my time reading this opinion piece. However only the headline is enough to know the author is a dumb***. A corporation making a game mechanic exclusive it is gross, to put mildly.

It’s a shit move and that’s all
