Correct me if I am wrong; but the 360 is the only console without a web browser. To me that is disappointing and doesn't make a lot of sense that Microsoft does not integrate their IE experience with the XBOX platform.

Here's to hoping that they have seen the light!

But if it is an Internet browser, I don't care. I have all three systems, and I think you have to be a complete idiot, or just feel like wasting your life away if you actually use the Wii or PS3 browser. The browsers they use suck balls, even if you have a keyboard. Just jump on your PC if you need to hop online that bad. Unless you can install Firefox, console browsers are a waste of time and space.

There is going to be NO Web Browser on the New Xbox Experience.

If you watch the video "Browse" is under more then one category.

You will see there is a "Browse" under Games and under Movies if you watch the video.

I thought the same thing, but back when I wasn't able to use the internet for both my console and PC, it would have been nice to have a Internet Browser on the console. So it would nice and helpful for people who can't use both at the same time..

But, now that I can use both for internet at the same time, it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't use the browser on the console, I would still switch over to my PC.

hate to say it, but i believe chasuk08 and SeNiLe911 are right in saying that browse doesnt mean web browser in the xbox360

not saying that it is impossible that there will be a browser in the dashboard update...im just saying that browse isnt the web browser

browse, most likely means, that you will be able to view the different games, movies, music, pictures or whatever category you are in, easily through thumbnails or something of that nature

I would rather they add some type of youtube applet instead of a browser. When I get on my 360 I am either playing games, or some other form of multimedia. I don't need to have a browser on my 360. And I honestly can't see the true advantages to having that feature on the 360. That's what I have a PC for.

If MS had an extra panel that they need to fill up, I would rather it be some sort of video gaming news feed where you see a story select it and the video news feed plays. Adding a browser would only be to fall inline with the Jones, and if that's the only reason for it, then the 360 doesn't need it. Microsoft...Keep it simple.

I didn't have a computer for the longest time. As a result I was using my PS3 browser coupled with my free jacked-from-someone wifi. It's a really nice feature if you don't have anything else.

More like "George Forman grill with a tv connection and no fat drip tray". This pretty much explains all the rabid BS3 fanboys ever present on this site. If i m not mistaking when i bought starfox 64 it had rumble feature. Did the ps3 had it at launch??? Gess not! By the way the N64 was released over ten years ago. Wow that's 2 generations back. And don't give the copyright thing. the 360 had it from launch.

Their browser would probably be better than Sony's but this is probably false info, because they would of announced this. They need to announce all their tricks cause they are falling way behind in games.

They are being very careful about what they show. Haven't you noticed? They have also stated there are a few more unannounced features. So who knows.

But yeah, the PS3's browser isn't too bad. Needs to take care of the memory issue, but I do like the zoom..when it works right.

I use my PS3 browser all the time. think about it. Im between games if you want to check what's new on N4G do you really want to walk upstairs, to your PC to check for updates and email . no i just hit the web real quick then go back to gaming. Youtube, and Megavideo work in the PS3 browser but alot of flash pages don't. I hope the 360 has a better browser.

I would have no need for a console browser. My PC is on 24/7 and is right next to my consoles, so it's not a hassle to switch over.

But, I can see the reasoning for some people wanting to have it and use it.

...the video is just showing the ability to scan or "browse" all your games in a single list. Which the 360 has always had.
*if* the 360 were to get a local browser (it already has one via the Media Center Extender, guys) it would be listed under Internet not under browse.

I'd love to have a web browser for the 360, but it just seems like consoles are taking more from computers instead of coming up with something fresh.

Xbox Live has amazing games, and playing online is best out of the three consoles. Even though PS3 does have a browser, I think Xbox 360 is still better. Everything about it is great, besides not having a browser.

Browse doesn't mean internet browser on the 360, just browsing your games collection in your hard-dive. I rarely ever use the one that comes with my PS3. Microsoft won't put that as a feature because most likely in their minds everyone has a computer, be it laptop or desktop, somewhere in their homes.

seriously tho.. which parts of NXE is 'innovative'? 1 vs 100 is quite cool to have as a game to kill time (i wud certainly play on it).. but there is not much more innovation in the NXE..

John Schappert says "We wanted to reinvent the Xbox".. well you've already done that, you went from Xbox to Xbox 360.. and if you want to reinvent it again, reinvent the fvcking console so it won't have the fvcking RROD..

but overall the NXE looks nice addition to the 360.. i wonder what exactly is new.. (meaning, everything, not just the bits we know :P )..

but.. i think this 'Browse' option is the browse games (unless its under the game category).. but i doubt they would call it 'Browse' if it is an internet browser..

if it is.. i really hope they have a browser that is better than the current IE8.. and that its actually W3C valid.. otherwise.. i wont even touch that feature (just like im using PS3's browser rarely..)

actually they are innovating quite a bit with the new dashboard and if you can't see that and the impact the new big features will have on consoles and online gaming you're blind

some of the things are the primetime channel, the netflix integration, the friend party system, and who knows what else they sneak in there

and you miss the reinventing point totally
they are completely reinventing the console(image, feature set, user interface, etc.) through a software update, something that hasn't ever been done on any other console

going from xbox to xbox 360 wasn't a "reinvention" it was a completely different product

and do stop with the whole rrod rap, it is older now than it ever has been and millions of people clearly enjoy the product despite its flaws so no need to bring it up on every 360 article, we own them...we know

this update will change the face of the 360 and how many of us use the xbox 360 and xbox live

I would be very surprised if MS put an internet browser on the 360. It certainly isn't in their interests to do so. To MS it makes much more sense to make the xbox 360 games only because that would require you to have a PC with their OS on for internet browsing.

I really like the Ps3's browser. It's way better than the Wii's anyway...

Anyway, we won't be seeing an Internet Browser on the 360. Xbox Live is a Closed Network. PSN is an Open Network and that is why it can have a browser.

TBH I'd prefer to have a closed, secure network rather than an Open, at-risk network.

1) i don't like the PS3's browser, it's a little redundant considering my laptop is never far away from me loaded with Firefox and Chrome- although it was useful when registering a Konami ID- i sincerely hope Sony does the smart thing and bring Firefox to the PS3

2) a secure network has it's advantages- but with an open network we get the benefit of UCC-enabled games like UT3 and LBP (and hopefully more to come)

3) if a web browser were to be a feature in NXE, MS would have showed it already

i poked around my dreamcast browser when i first got it only because it was a novelty...i used it maybe twice

The internet browser on the PS3 really isn't that great and yeh you do need to close down pages because it uses too much memory. So annoying and pointless, either use a laptop or PC and do your browsing on there.

judging by the comments..many are completely clueless and have no experience of what a browser adds to a console...

its NOT a replacement for your PC web browser....

one of the games, direcly from it was a linky to the site with the game manual and news about updates....you do this without every leaving your seat or putting the controller down...those who have HT setups in the LR know the advantage for some of this stuff..its NOT like you have to use it

- Internet Browser
- Microsoft Home
- 2.5" HDD to SLIM 360
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Life with XBOX 360

I read an article which said that 360 is the most innovative console on the market ^_^. Well it could be in a way - RROD.

First set up windows media center and google and download MCe brower, and transfer it to your 360

I dont even use the web browser on my ps3. If it cant be used PROPERLY, then it shouldn't be included. No web browser is better than a gimped in IMO.

Not a web browser, its most likely a helpful tool to help you find certain content on the marketplace. Which is cool also because I hate taking forever to scroll down list.

This isn't about doing your online banking on your game system, I love downloading and watching hi-def game and movie trailers from the internet on my 52" LCD via my PS3 web browser. I check gametrailers all the time, rarely have any freezes at all. I don't know how many times I've killed 10 minutes on my PS3 web browser on Gamefaqs or N4G while I'm waiting for a PSN demo to download...or checked my friends' XBOX Live gamertag blog to see what he played yesterday...or watched a Kenny VS Spenny episode on YouTube with my wife without us leaving the living room. The picture is great, my 5.1 is hooked up to it. What in the heck is so wrong with that?

Surfing the net (to people with jobs) isn't just about having a browser capable of pulling off all your 7 hour marathon session and pron needs, sometimes you just wanna change the channel for 5 minutes. If XBOX gets a browser (like the Wii and PS3 already have), good for them.

Wow, is this what AnalogHype is? They just make up something they pull out of their asses, and just assume that something they see means that it will happen the way they want it to and they make that into some sort of rumor?

My guess is that AH is just throwing things on the wall hoping something sticks.

I'm pretty sure Browse is referring to the content above it. Why would they name it "browse"? Why haven't they unveiled this yet? It's not like it's never been done before. It's not like 20 million people are going to go nuts and throw their pcs out the window because it finally decides to add one. There's just too many reasons why it's not an internet explorer. For one I'm pretty sure it would be called Web Browser.

I wonder if we'll be able to back up Xbox 1 games on this new dashboard. Oh and does anyone know if for example I had a Fable game save (from the actual disc), and then downloaded Fable from Xbox originals would it read that save? I'm just curious.

I hope this game backing up thing works out well. I'd like to think though that once it's backed up you wouldn't have to keep putting the disk in. Disks are just too fragile. It's ridiculous. Maybe they could work something out so that the disks have a one time only backup thing. Or maybe if you deleted your backup you could re-backup. Hhmmm... I can't wait for this update. I hope it turns out as good as they're making it sound.

just to have a browser on your beloved 360. As for the ps3 having no games, thats just bullshat at this point. Its the 360 searching for answers at this time. Sony can and will beat the 360 with first party exclusives alone this year. Wake up bots, the ps3 gets every multiplatform game that the 360 does and has better exclulsives, so stop crying that it has no games.
