Because money. That's why. His history means nothing. This is all about business and owning a larger share of third-party support on a potential platform.

freshslicepizza3410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

lets be honest with what ea is really supporting the switch with, its fifa which is a game that can sell worldwide (because they need worldwide market when japan is playing such a huge factor for nintendo) and a game that can take advantage of local multiplayer. also a game that is probably pretty easy to port over. otherwise ea is being very reserved in its actual support. mass effect? i dont think so.

nintendo is desperately trying to dig itself back out with third party support but they are also greedy and not wanting to drop the 3ds. which many though would lead to an amalgamation of developemtn support. instead they give us a very small handful of games

Agreed.

I love how Electronic Arts is supposedly supporting the switch in the same month the switch is releasing Mass Effect is also releasing on every platform other than the switch lol

Pandamobile3410d ago

There's a big difference between adapting a sports game for the Switch and a AAA space RPG. I don't even think Frostbite supports the Switch yet either, but that'll obviously happen soon-ish.

Agreed. They are trying to establish themselves and set themselves up for more sales and mindshare among customers is all.

They haven't got a clue which is the target audience for Switch and don't want to risk investing in developing a new game for Switch. Therefore they figure Fifa has a pretty large blast radius so it's low risk to throw a port on the system just in case they can get lucky.

rjason123410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

Then they can say that they've always supported Nintendo lol

ocelot073410d ago

How are they supporting the switch at launch when there only game announced for it so far fifa does not launch for it until later in the year.

Why not? They will be the only sports games on the Switch!

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing21d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit21d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing21d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg24d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

jwillj2k424d ago

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

PRIMORDUS24d ago

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing6924d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
