I've heard of 8/12K what I'm worried about is grabbing a 4K telly for my gaming and then ah yeah here's the Pro+ or Scorpio 2 now with 8K 😩🙄✌🏻

kneon3294d ago

Don't hold your breath waiting for 8k. This monitor is great for it's intended purpose, but there really is little point to 8k video or gaming unless we start using really giant monitors and TVs. 4K is already great, to make 8K worth the upgrade on a TV you'd probably be looking at 100+ inch TVs.

a 32" monitor @ 18" viewing distance would have a noticable difference between 4k & 8k. Good luck on the GPUs capable of running anything better than Tetris at that res though.

You have nothing to worry about. 8K is a long ways off. 4K has been around for a while now but only last year did it really start getting talked about by a more mainstream audience. Also the best GPUs currently wouldn't be able to handle it. If a 4K TV is what you're looking at, it's a safe buy.

Too soon!Well they can always brag of been the first.

Nintendo-or-Nothing3294d ago

We already know 8k is coming soon, but samsung is working on 11k. This is one of the reasons why 4k is a waste of money not unless you were already in the market for a new TV.

The facts are that more pixels doesnt mean better graffics l. Gaming would benefit from better textures and lightning on a lower resolution. HD is the standard, nothing else.

kneon3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

And NHK have been working on 8k and 16k for about 20 years, I got to see these in the labs in Japan long ago, That doesn't mean they will ever become mainstream products.

We are really hitting increasingly diminishing returns after 4k, you need really giant screens for 8k to be worthwhile. They would be much better off focusing on improving contrast ratios and color depth at this point.

ninsigma3294d ago

I don't think contrast ratios and color depth will be easy to market to the mainstream though unfortunately lol
These companies focus on the easiest marketable aspect. Same with phones (stop increasing screen resolution and focus on making better use of phone batteries to last more than a day!!).

kneon3294d ago

Yes, but pushing 8k when there is no 8k content is also a difficult task.

ninsigma3294d ago

Yeah that's true but the masses are ignorant enough :p

Tussin1873294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

How is 4k a waste? It not even main stream yet. Don't even want to know how much this cost. Even the best PCs struggle with 60fps and 4k and you want 8k already? Patience my friend.
