No Mass Effect Andromeda, but Beyond Good & Evil 2 could be an exclusive.

Like the Wii and the Wii U, interesting, you don't say?

Erik73573424d ago

It's a different gaming landscape in my opinion. Big third party games still matter but Indie gaming has made it less important than it use to be. They need Indie support if anything. That will be good because it will be easier to do that and they tend to be less graphically demanding.

Nah, With Breath of the Wild launching with the Switch, only poor marketing could make or break the console.
3rd party support is merely a feature for the Switch, most people now already own a pc, ps4 or xbox one and are going to continue buying 3rd party games for those more powerful machines (unless its the type of game they would like to play portably).

Nintendo hasn't relied on 3rd parties since...SNES? N64 and Gamecube had some support but it didn't matter. Wii and WiiU didn't have any. People get Nintendo hardware for Nintendo 1st party games. Even when 3rd party games were put on their hardware, the customers didn't buy them. That's why 3rd party support inevitably ended every generation.
The Switch will get ports and maybe a few exclusives early on and they'll sell terribly and support will end and 1st party games will sell millions. The media keeps wanting to pit Nintendo against Sony/MS but they're in a completely different market. They're basically a complementary company. People own a gaming pc/PS4/XB1 and they'll have a Switch on the side.

How can nintendo be considered "in a different market" when they literally have their machine on a shelf right to to sony and ms's. I know nintendo has stated they arent trying to compete with ms and sony but that sir is a boldfaced lie. Who are they competeing with exactly at walmart, gamestop, ect? The wiiu? That would def be a better feat to tackle than other 8th gen consoles. Speaking of which, this is an 9th gen nintendo platform and i promise sonys prior gen will still fair better. Theres a reason sony sold half of the 4 year wiius instal base over this holiday period.

But somehow the nintendo is going to sell gangbusters lol. Just like the wiiu was going to. Times have changed. They will be lucky to top thr wiiu or come anywhere near the 3ds.

I'm not too sure I agree with that because I don't necessarily see the switch as a Home console as much as I see it a portable, so the way I feel is Mass Effect not appearing on the switch is not going to hurt the platform any more than Mass Effect not appearing on the 3DS.

As long as they have their Japanese support from companies like Square Enix , Capcom ,Sega I believe they will be fine.

I believe it's going to be successful in Japan simply because all Nintendo's Portables have been successful in that region so I think a lot of its success is going to be based on the Japanese support it receives, not necessarily console third-party support.

For me, if they get the second/third party support they got on DS and 3DS then I would be very interested in the Switch. I get that they have been saying it is their new console, but I want the Switch to combine their support into one device. No new handheld. To me, combining the support of the Wii U and 3DS would be a very compelling must buy.
However, if they make a new handheld it'll eat into what I personally want the Switch to be. So I'm waiting, eagerly, to see what they talk about in a week.
*As it stands, I don't intend on buying it on release, but I already have the money set aside. Here's hoping!

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing24d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9224d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit24d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing24d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9224d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
