My mind was blown when I saw that random encounters weren't going to be in Dragon Quest XI. I was even more blown when I found out this had been the trend for this series since DQIX.
I for one am glad. Nothing is more annoying than exploring or trying to get out of a dungeon without constant random encounters. I can tolerate them, but I'd rather see the enemies on the field.
Random encounters can be annoying
I don't hate random encounters they can tweak the rate of them so I don't see why they need to be eliminated. It's a staple of a genre.
