Why The Division Still Isn’t Dead (Yet)

What constitutes a dead game? How much of a player drop off do we need, how hands-off does a studio have to be before we bury the remains of a game deep in the New Mexican desert? Despite becoming the fast-selling Ubisoft title ever, players dropped off in their droves. But does Ubisoft have a cunning trick up their sleeve?

Paid expansions and new clothes won't bring me back to the game.

I'm not paying any more and I think I changed my appearance once and haven't ever considered doing it again.

I payed 100 for the game and season pass. After that first month every single day I'm piss about that purchase, plus I bought digital so I'm stuck with it. I think I'm done buy digital games on console.

kneon3628d ago

I pre-ordered so I got it for $40 and didn't buy the season pass. I got my moneys worth, but now it's just become a grind, something I'd only play if I've some time to kill and no other games to play.

See to me the game play is excellent, really top notch when it comes to the shooting and cover mechanics.

So while it can be considered a little grind-ish and repetitive I just think that since the game plays so damn well it just doesn't really bother me I suppose.

I hate pointless grinding. I don't see why I should waste time trying to get gear that I need just so I can do missions to try and get better gear. It's an endless, meaningless cycle, been there done that.

I've been playing video games since Pong first arrived on the scene, so I've long since lost interest in most games that don't have a decent story to keep me going. Otherwise it's just more of what I've done many thousands of times before.

I played it for a week, couldn't be arsed with the grind as I'd just come from destiny and still not gone back to it. I've moved on to dark souls 3 and now just waiting for no mans sky. I won't be going back I've learnt my lesson and probably won't bother with Ubisoft games in the foreseeable future.

People like you complain about grind all while playing games like Destiny and DS3. Doesn't make any sense. Why is it OK for those games to be grinds and you'll play them but yet for The Division it's all of a sudden a bad thing and makes you not want to play?

I was just looking at his dumbass comment too.... the line drawn between those 2 and divi is having to do your own math

JasonBloodbourne3627d ago

I never said it was ok for them other games to be grinds, engage brain before commenting mate.

toutmanifik3628d ago

I might be in the minority but I like the game. It's fun to me and that's what I look for in a game.

Horses for courses mate. Whatever floats your boat and all that. A few of my friends love it but I just couldn't get into it, I did try though I gave it a week and levelled up to 24 I think.

OoglyBoogly3628d ago

You're not alone. I think the game is a blast to play, even if it's repetitive. I've got 70 hours so far and I'm level 22 in the DZ if that tells you anything. Solid game over all and the mechanics are very well made.

I'll only be going back for the additional SP content (got a good deal on game and pass).
