How Does Uncharted 4 Handle Microtransactions?

It’ll probably be another few days before the bulk of Uncharted 4 owners rip themselves away from the stunning campaign to sample its fantastic multiplayer offering. Before making that leap (with grappling hook in hand, of course) you may want to take a minute to learn about Naughty Dog’s new approach to multiplayer content.

When it comes to fully priced game, there's no such thing as good microtransactions in my opinion. And before people start jumping down my throat about "gaming being more expensive to produce" these little devils make a crapload of moolah on top of the huge sales which most franchises that include microtransactions usually perform. Companies make all of this money yet we still suffer from broken games at launch, massive day one patches, barely any titles that run sixty frames per second at 1080p. From Software shows proof that if a game is good enough it will sell as much it needed to make a profit and beyond so I know they are not unneeded but I am pretty sure 90% already accepted these terms as inevitabilities even though it isnt.

I don't want to encroach on anyone's fun mind you but was it truly less fun earning unlockables for free back in the day.

I don't like Microtransaction in every games. This is why i blame EA the most because they caused other publishers and developers follow the suit.

The problem lies that the game developing team is all over the world (game testers on US, sound team on Australia, game designer in Japan, etc.) Gaming needs to go back to local game development teams to reduce the costs of game development, reduce the bugs/glitches technical issues in general. Finally, there needs to be a competitive market when it comes to selling games. That will hopefully put an end to microtransanctions on $60.00 games

That's my one issue with the microtransaction online is that everything pretty much has to be purchased or you can deal with the extremely long grind Fest and get a random object. I guess that's the trade-off with supplying us free maps and game modes for the whole entire year

I don't mind that they went that route I just wish they had a good amount of starter items or level progression unlocks in the mix. And I mean cosmetic stuff AZ perks weapons and such are unlocked through progression

Ugghhh!!!! So it pretty much going forward paying $60.00 games will come with microtransanctions. Ok this means playing more indie games

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing20d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9220d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit20d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing20d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9220d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
