DOOM Feels Old, Not Nostalgic

DOOM certainly harkens back to the general era of multiplayer arena shooters, but all the same, it doesn’t feel much like “DOOM.” You’ll run around collecting ammo, health and shield. There are temporary “quad damage” boosts. There are jump pads. It’s feels kinda like old DOOM, sure, but that’s really because it’s pulling from other games of the time like Quake and Unreal Tournament. Honestly, it feels more like a bad mashup than a proper DOOM game as a result.

I would agree that the multiplayer was boring as hell. But I never played the Doom games for MP. I play them for single player. I'm sure the campaign will be great.

From what I saw it made me think of Unreal Tournament which I used to love. However that was so long ago and my tastes have changed. It just looked boring, I didn't even bother downloading the beta.

I had a good time playing it. It played as I expected.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil393d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.

It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.

Weird games in general we don't get enough of, we need more games like Katamari and Mr domino, things like that
