Quantum Break on the PC is an un-optimized port of the excellent Xbox One version.

Microsoft can't keep putting out unoptimized PC ports and expect Windows 10 to be a success.

DragonDDark3698d ago

Yup. Hope they get better with time but this is seriously worrying.

4Sh0w3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

I guess a lot of studio's just use poor quality control when porting games to pc, I can recall lots of bad pc ports from other studio's as well. No, excuses for Microsoft/Remedy though, they should have done better than this. I'm no pc gamer but if you're gonna do something, do it right. It also didn't help that this was most likely a very last minute port decision. Microsoft should know that's not a good way to keep the momentum for Windows 10, step yo game up.

lelo2play3698d ago

"Microsoft can't keep putting out unoptimized PC ports and expect Windows 10 to be a success."

That's exactly what they expect...

SMH can't believe this. And I was looking forward to the PC version.

Phunkydiabetic13697d ago

Why cant you believe this? 90% of ports to PC are shit.

ShadowKnight3697d ago

@Phunky I thought this port was going to be just like Alan Wake port on PC. They gave more effort on Alan Wake pc port.

nowitzki20043697d ago (Edited 3697d ago )

@Phunky

How would you know. You play 0 PC games a year.

The hate for PC gaming is hilarious.

Phunkydiabetic13697d ago

@nowitzki2004

How the hell would you know what videogames I rock? Having been into pc games since the early 90s I have seen what PC gaming COULD be. What it WAS.

This? These days? Garbage console ports? Back then PC was where it was at for exclusive games. Original, amazing pc games were released one after another. Nowadays it is a shell of what it used to be.

nowitzki20043696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

@Phunky

Ok you played PC games in the 90s.. Was there even gaming PCs back then? I remember being able to play anything back then if you had a good computer. Today you need to build specifically for gaming.

And theres plenty of exclusives lol. This year PC has 2 GOTY contenders that are PC exclusive in Homeworld deserts of Kharak and XCOM2. How many do Xbox and PS4 have so far this year that are actual GOTY material?

BossBattle3698d ago

Yeah because Microsoft made the game and not Remedy.

BossBattle3698d ago

@dragonddark That's like saying if a 3rd party game comes to the PS4 full of glitches or unoptimized it's Sony fault.

DJustinUNCHAIND3698d ago

Windows 10 is already a success.

Xb1ps43698d ago

I guess I'm the only one that has a problem with the graphics?

Can you at least turn off the immense film-grain on the PC version?

That alone is ruining the Xbox One version for me. I will never understand why game and film makers put this crap in there without options to disable. Is there really somthing wrong with a clean image in games and movies?

motion blurring, film grain, letterboxing, chromatic abberration.....all are absolute worthless junk and I can't find anyone that enjoys these things so why do they keep forcing it on us.

OoglyBoogly3698d ago

I agree. Especially chromatic aberration. That's the result of shitty camera lenses. Why do I want my games to look like they were filmed with crap 1960's cameras? Makes absolutely no sense. I mean, some retro themed game, sure, but a next-gen futuristic sci-fi? What the hell???

Even GTA 5 has the shit and it looks a LOT better with it modded out.

SunnyZ3698d ago

So true.
I never understood the need for these useless filters.

The HUGE flag showed up when I was playing Just Cause 2 many many years ago with my mate. His copy on his xbox was really weirdly blurry, I thought it was looked terrible. So I showed him my copy on pc, blurry setting disabled. His jaw dropped, could no believe how crisp it looked.

I enabled the motion blur, looked exactly like the xbox copy he was use to.

I understand that motion blur and other effects were needed on the old consoles to cover up the lack of AA and other visual defects.

But come on... We are well past that era of cosmetic cover ups.

Console gamers DESERVE to have the option to enable/disable visual aspects of the game to suit them.

One size does NOT fit all anymore.

Let gamers choose!

Goldby3698d ago

as tru as that may be, you also have to look at it from the dev's side, and more importantly realise the devs are the artists, while some techniques are used to hide imperfections and such, others are purposely used because it is in the vision of the creative director. after all, its their story and they are telling it the way they feel it needs to be told.

that could be compared to MGM getting a letter telling them to replace the Aston Martin in James Bond with a mustang because the viewer doesn't like the car.

In examples like The Order the film grain works, but the same may be said about QB as it may have been used to lessen the differences between the game and the TV tie in.

esemce3698d ago

"But come on... We are well past that era of cosmetic cover ups."

Sadly we are not.

Phunkydiabetic13697d ago

Considering most games on Xbox cant even achieve 1080p no, we are not past the era of cosmetic cover ups.

sammarshall1023697d ago

The film grain makes it look better IMO

The only problem I had was a little screen tearing

FasterThanFTL13698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

I am playing the PC version @ 3200x1800 Ultra settings and Anti-Aliasing Off and I am getting 50-60 fps. Please explain how is the 720p/30fps Xbox One version better.

My PC:
i7-4790k @4.8 GHz
Overclocked 980 Ti
32Gb RAM

gameseveryday3698d ago

A ton of PC players are facing issues. Even the configuration you mentioned is pretty solid but you are not getting a locked 60fps. Compare that to the X1 which almost has a locked 30fps, it makes the console version experience far more better. Plus there are very few differences between PC and X1, making Remedy's work on the X1 really surprising.

FasterThanFTL13698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

And a ton of players are playing the game without any issues.

And you do realize 3200x1800 has 2.78x the pixel count as 1080p and 6.25x the pixel count as 720p. And not to mention the Xbox One runs has almost half the framerate and lacks lots of subtle details like Ambient Occlusion that are present in the PC version and gives it a more darker and realistic look overall.

gameseveryday3698d ago

@FasterThanFTL1 That is incorrect. Ambient Occulsion is present on the Xbox One.

FITgamer3698d ago

I watched a few PC streams yesterday, and everyone i asked said the only technical issue is that it's a direct port of the Xbox One version. So the image quality isn't as good as it could be.

Spyroo3698d ago

denial is strong with this one

FPSFox3698d ago

I hate posts like this so much... "I'm not having any issues. What's the big deal???"

This game is shittly optimized. Confirmed by many sources. The end, get over it.

JamesBroski3698d ago

Not everyone has a 2000$ overclocked PC though.

Volkama3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

The comparison points within the article do not support the title. I cannot see a single metric where the PC turns in a worse result than the Xbox, except perhaps that they had trouble downloading it...

I'm guessing that Bill Smith wrote the article, but Rashid Sayed wrote the "catchy" title.

Lol xbox master race. It was probably a quick port.

AngelicIceDiamond3698d ago

QB Port did happen late after all. What do you know a originally built for console and announced for console game runs better.

endi1233698d ago

Just play the game, no need for counting pixels

Ark_3697d ago

Severe stuttering, when fps drop below native resolution of the display. Overall blurry look. Objects popping up. Flickering textutres ...

So - it's really not about pixel counting. It's just a bad port and unoptimized (yet).

It's playable of course and definitly not a bad game, but it is also not a great promotion for Win10 store and DX12.

Before Control Resonant launches, you need to play Remedy's mind-bending Quantum Break, one of the best third-person shooters around.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit797d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead797d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica797d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL797d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

S2Killinit797d ago

Lol what a spin. You dizzy?

AsunaYuukiTheFlash797d ago (Edited 797d ago )

We don’t care about shovelwares. Get that junk out of PS5

StormSnooper796d ago

More like MS begging to put their games on PlayStation.

Friendlygamer797d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit797d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer797d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit797d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff2183797d ago (Edited 797d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer797d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff2183797d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper796d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal797d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood797d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff2183797d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde797d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Petebloodyonion813d ago

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer813d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion813d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning77813d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer813d ago (Edited 813d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw813d ago (Edited 813d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder813d ago (Edited 813d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing813d ago (Edited 813d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai813d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well
