Microsoft offering refunds for delayed PC Quantum Break pre-orders

"Codes for the PC version of Quantum Break will be released in waves over the next 7 to 10 days for those that pre-ordered the Xbox One version of the game and recieved the PC version as a bonus. Gamers that pre-orded the game have become upset that they are not able to play both the Xbox One and PC version at the same time."

They should have told people it was 7-10 days later, before the night of release.

ShadowKnight3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

Lol and I thought I was going to get my code the same day smh 😞 :/

MasterCornholio3696d ago

Well at least they are offering refunds. So it isn't all bad.

Deadpooled3696d ago

I bet some no name site is going to give the game low scores using this as an excuse

mikeslemonade3696d ago

Yea I don't even have a Xbox anymore so I needed the PC code.

I rather refund the physical copy and still get the PC code.

donthate3696d ago

MS did state that, and it is clearly stated on the Xbox Store and in marketing materials. It has been there for months!

Lack of reading comprehension, and wishful thinking doesn't make it MS responsibility. Although, they are being pretty lax about this in customers favor. That is nice of MS!

sangoku_d3696d ago

It's over in 6 hours so they thought they would have forgotten in a week

"Gamers that pre-orded the game have become upset that they are not able to play both the Xbox One and PC version at the same time"

If you read the news on the Xbox page pertaining to Quantum Break Pre order that was published on 2/11, it said

http://news.xbox.com/2016/0...
"Windows 10 game redemption code will be sent via Xbox system message around the week of April 5, 2016."

It never said people that pre order will get the PC code on April 5th but said 'around the week' of 4/5.

And also on the official Quantum Break website, on the Pre order FAQ, it reiterated the same fact

http://www.quantumbreak.com...
HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE WINDOWS 10 CODE? HOW DO I ACTIVATE IT?

Answer: "After you pre-order a digital copy of "“Quantum Break” for Xbox One through the Xbox Store, you will receive a system message over Xbox Live that includes a 5x5 redemption code for the Windows 10 version of the game. Codes will be ISSUED SHORTLY AFTER LAUNCH."

So there is really no false advertising or misinformation from MS or Remedy. It is just some that failed to read up on the full details or simply don't want to hear it.

I already knew ahead of time that would be the case but my XB1 version will keep me entertain until then before replaying it again on my PC, when I get the code.

Eonjay3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

Baby boy, there is no way on God's green earth that anyone would take that statement to mean that you have to wait two weeks to redeem your PC code. You don't have to defend this. There was no false advertising... just the usual lack of clear and full information. its a freaking code.... you can produce millions instantly.

Rookie_Monster3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

"There was no false advertising... just the usual lack of clear and full information. its a freaking code.... you can produce millions instantly"

Dude, the 7-10 days waiting period for digital codes has been a MS policy for all their digital game code methods for preorder from BC titles like Alan Wake, Doom, Fallout 3, Dark Souls..etc and it clearly stated before ahead of time that was going to be the case. All of a sudden, somehow there is an outcry because we expect something different than what MS has been doing? Please!!

Also Eonjay, 7-10 days afther launch is not 2 week. LOL. It totally falls within "shortly after launch" like what the FAQ indicated.

I guess you are one of those guys that failed to read the memo if in fact you actually did preorder the XB1 digital copy.

Eonjay3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

The title of the article is 'Microsoft offering refunds for delayed PC Quantum Break pre-orders'. 7-10 days? Are they sending codes through the postal service?

Rookie_Monster3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

@Eonjay,

LmAO, you do know the title with the 'delayed' in it was made up by the author and not what MS has said or what is happening, right? Judging from your response, maybe not.

It can't be delayed if they already said and posted "Code will be delivered shortly after launch" back in February when the PC version was announced.

Hope you have a better understanding now of how sensational headlines and wordings work and everyone seems to be baiting for it these days. LoL

ninsigma3696d ago

Waiting 7 to 10 is not the week of the 5th and it certainly isn't shortly after.

2pacalypsenow3696d ago

you pre order a game and have to wait days after release to get to play it? yeah no way you can defend that

ScorpiusX3696d ago

Great minds think alike , said the same thing in a shorter post ..... lol

TFJWM3696d ago

There is really no reason to defend this, if you play the game just over 1 hour a day you will have already beaten the game by the time the PC code comes...

Rookie_Monster3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

@TFJWM
"There is really no reason to defend this, if you play the game just over 1 hour a day you will have already beaten the game by the time the PC code comes..."

So what is the issue here? You are infact paying for the XB1 version and NOT the PC version. And if you played it on your XB1 and had beaten it for your enjoyment, you got what you had paid for. The PC digital code, like the Alan Wake digital, are pre order bonuses. There is a PC version sold separately for those that want to play it now on their PC instead if they choose to do so.

MS don't have to offer this generous offer (they are like the only publisher that is doing this) but the fact that they are with not just one digital code for the PC version, but also a BC title as well.

Some people just love to complaint, I suppose.

FITgamer3696d ago

7-10 after launch, is not the week of April 5th. That's the issue.

jb2273696d ago

"You are infact paying for the XB1 version and NOT the PC version. And if you played it on your XB1 and had beaten it for your enjoyment, you got what you had paid for. The PC digital code, like the Alan Wake digital, are pre order bonuses. There is a PC version sold separately for those that want to play it now on their PC instead if they choose to do so."

So first off the issue is that MS promised a PC code, so when you preordered you were in fact buying both, not just the single one. They specifically focused on the ability to cross play & cross save, a feature that was advertised before launch. If someone beats the game in 7-10 days, which is very typical, they don't get to take advantage of that cross play that was sold to them until repeated playthroughs.

Then you go on to suggest that people double dip & buy two copies of the game when they were already promised both? I'm really glad you don't work w/ MS.

Bottom line is that MS don't hand out refunds out of the goodness of their heart, they do this because they know they had done wrong in this instance. I guess it doesn't matter either way because you will defend anything they do w/ your dying breath.

donthate3696d ago

@Eonjay:

If it takes long for MS to generate the code, or whatever is irrelevant. MS said we will send it to you after release means exactly that.

Surprising to me that you have no understanding of that. Whatever reason MS have to wait, is NONE OF YOUR BIZ as long as MS fulfill what they promised you!

You don't get to be a cry-baby over how MS achieves it....

Not sure how they could mess this up to be honest, but least they're willing to refund

Nice of them , but seem everyone is getting way upset about nothing .

How will I receive the Windows 10 code? How do I activate it?

Rookie_Monster3696d ago

What is more amazing is when the news broke about QB being released on Both XB1 and PC and details were made "coming shortly after launch" for the digital PC code were included in that article, that has 344 replies and 1000 degree hotness,
http://n4g.com/news/1863351... Quantum Break Coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 on April 5

...how in the heck do these people claiming that they didn't know until now when they did infact commented with joy back then? LoL

Gwiz3696d ago

lol, what is this sorcery you speak of? :P

ScorpiusX3696d ago

Must be a form of Selective reading , like hearing is . lol

Kribwalker3696d ago

Apparently people on this site do not like factual information like links to press releases that state exactly what you have been saying

MCTJim3695d ago

judging by all the disagrees in your last couple of posts, they didnt read...or have selective memories or hate when you are right...it was plain as day when you pre-ordered in the store for the X1...it was right there and I am still awaiting mine for the PC, I'm not mad or angry, I UNDERSTOOD what I was buying, I played last night on the X1 and enjoyed it. There is such a high replay value for this game to take different paths. I'll be playing it for quite a while. Once my PC code comes, I'll play other paths on that one.

TFJWM3696d ago (Edited 3696d ago )

The game is short. In 7-10 days anyone who enjoys the game will have beaten it by then...

Short is a relative term. If someone says I am going to send you an email shortly with the info/code, I do not think they are sending the code next week...

Revvin3696d ago

It's unusual for Microsoft not to send out keys quickly, I've received them for other promotions quite quickly although I don't understand the delay its not like they have to post anything, it's a completely computerised system that should be capable of sending out a simple key.

ninsigma3696d ago

Why don't they just, you know, send out the keys. They'd lose a lot less money that way and everyone will be happy they got their code.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit795d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead795d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica794d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL794d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

Friendlygamer795d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit795d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer795d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit794d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff2183795d ago (Edited 795d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer794d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff2183794d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper794d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal795d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood795d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff2183794d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde795d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer811d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion811d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning77811d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer810d ago (Edited 810d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw811d ago (Edited 811d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder811d ago (Edited 811d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing811d ago (Edited 811d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai811d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well
