As console based MMO's are starting to become mainstream and take the spotlight (Destiny, Grand Theft Auto Online, and now The Division to name a few), more of an effort has to be put on the titles end-game content. For example: a game like Destiny, which was considered to have a very weak story, was saved entirely by its end-game. Between to thrill and status brought on by finding exotic weapons such as Gjallarhorn, the revolving events like Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris, or the challenging weekly Nightfall, Destiny has a lot of reason to pick up your controller on a regular basis. Same with Grand Theft Auto Online’s Heists and frequent updates giving players new swag for just enjoying the game. Games are no longer designed for a player to take on the story, but also the world that they are set in.

GTA Online player base & revenue on PlayStation platforms are almost twice of that of PC/Xbox combined, according to a recent Rockstar leak.
PlayStation is GTA and GTA is PlayStation, they're going to kill it when GTA 6 is finally released 😏.
I know of people that own a PS4 exclusively to play gta5, and that’s all they play. I’m sure some of you here know of someone too. I’m surprised at how low the revenue for PC is.
That’s because most PlayStation fans are ghetto. Source…Every ghetto person I know, plays on PlayStation.
Actually really surprised with the PC revenue which is an abysmal 3% overall vs Console (PS and Xbox combined) at a whopping 97%. It now makes sense why Take Two/Rockstar prioritizes Consoles. Heck, they could even delay the PC port release 2 to 3 years and it wouldn't make any impact at all.

It has been ten years of the franchise and a celebration is planned.

It's been almost 10 years since we first stepped foot in Ubisoft's extraction shooter, The Division and it looks like the developer will celebrate by giving fans a chance to replay the experience in "definitive edition" form.
What I like about gta online is all the variety it has. I don't always have to shoot people to play the game. I can spend time on racing or playing golf or tennis. To me this aspect makes me feel like the world is alive, like I can get immersed in this. For instance in the division what do the soldiers do when there not killing baddies? Surely they don't run around killing 24 hours, 7 days out the week.
Also I'd love for the next gta online to give you the option to play as a good guy or a criminal. that could add a ton of depth to the gameplay. This is another thing I love about gta online, there's so many possibilities.
Yes. It's the problem most persistent games have. They spend 5 years on a game and then we chew through it in less than a month, many much quicker. We don't want to pay for anything, but we want endless content to keep rolling out.
So, companies know this and often cut content and roll it out in waves. Itherwise, no one would stick around. Then we bitch b/c they do this, but we'd bitch if they didnt.
Bungie is in a tough spot right now. Ppl are clamoring for more content and they simply can't make it fast enough.
Also, sub models were the best model b/c then you would know how much money a company was making and the corresponding content released. Unfortunately today, many games opt for f2p or b2p models using dlc and micros to pay for it all. Unfortunately we never know the financials.
I don't get the point of any endgame. You grind and grind on the same levels you've already played to get better gear to be able to grind better. Repeat forever. Usually when I get to that point and I've already consumed all the content the game has I move on to something else.
It really depends on the quality of the end-game content and whether or not it suits the tastes of the person playing to be worth going through.
Games like the Tales Of series make fairly good use of end-game content to pad things out without making them feel overwhelming or bland, in most cases, for instance.
