Quantum Break's arrival on PC won't hurt the Xbox One

Windows Central

"The industry frequently suggests that the Xbox One will be Microsoft's last attempt at a video game console, as a result of the console's numerous hiccups. While Xbox hardware profits aren't paying the bills, the console is a fundamental element of the Windows 10 ecosystem. Phil Spencer, Microsoft's Head of Xbox, has all but confirmed that a successor to the Xbox One is in the works"

This can be broken down really easily

PS4 hardcore fan: "hahaha why buy Xbox One It's got no exclusives hur durr dis hurts Xbox One we swear"

Xbox One hardcore fan: *cries* why am I not special Microsoft waaaaa

PC hardcore fan: 'we fucking hate Microsoft Xbox is for douchebags' but we'll pay them $60 for games

Every non-fanboy: "Who gives a shit?"

christocolus3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

Lol. Some will always find a reason to complain and nag. Anyways I'm just patiently waiting for April 5th. I've got a date with Quantum Break :)

@MCTJim

Well said bro

MCTJim3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

Funny thing is so are most normal people. Its not going to hurt anyone..period.. Its the ones that have no vested interest in the PC or X1 version that are boo hooing. ...Except those who all of a sudden have a super charged PC to play the game(which many are also fibbing) Its been explained numerous times why its being released with the X1 version. Have we not had enough articles on this? Has it not been explained that its a win win for me and for those who want the game. Anyone who says they bought an X1 specifically for QB is most likely fibbing. Why not wait till the bundle came out? Why buy it months in advance? Its not like their is a shortage of consoles on either platform at any stores. Its all concerned trolls as far as I am concerned.

Here is a solution: Dont buy the game if you are so slighted by MS. That will teach them /s

I think its about time we put this topic to rest, hasnt even been a week but it feels like months of hearing the same thing over and over again.

_-EDMIX-_3743d ago

Buddy...its just getting started. Scalebound, Forza 6, Horizon 3, Gears 4....calling it now, all going to PC.

We will be having such articles every single time it happens until folks get Win 10 and XONE are BOTH being supported now.

You would think when Phil stated that months ago....folks would get it.

You would think after Gears coming to PC.......folks would get it.

You would think after KI coming to PC......folks would get it.

You would think after ReCore coming to PC....folks would get it.

You would think after THIS coming to PC......folks would get it.

I mean...you would really, really think after Halo Wars 2 and Sea Of Thieves where announced for PC day and date with XONE........folks would get it. They legit won't stop, even when Phil's statements are very much saying both will be supported in the future, it seems that many want to hold on to this strange assumption that all those titles are special cases.

Until all their major releases are on PC, I think many will still try to go against MS in this idea that XONE will still get special treatment or something lol

I don't fully understand it as Phil's statements on his twitter is pretty clear.

jb2273743d ago

"You would think when Phil stated that months ago....folks would get it"

Come on Ed, less than a month ago Phil & the official Xbox Wire was lying through their teeth saying Quantum Break was an Xbox One exclusive. How can you blame consumers for trusting that an executive wasn't straight up lying to their faces? I'm all for this move by the way but to act like gamers should be to blame for actually trusting that a console executive wouldn't outright lie is a little backwards, you have to admit that much?

_-EDMIX-_3743d ago

@Jb- I don't disagree with that. I think it was a bad call for them to not disclose they had a PC version being worked on, this could have been going on for as long as 5 months or so. If they got a really, REALLY ACE team to do it, it could have been going on for maybe 1 month with the hopes of getting it done by launch.

Its not impossible as ports teams of about 10 staff can get a game running in weeks, can get a port finished in even as little as 2 to 3 months, add in that its being made on PC and you could easily see how they might have been able to get it done with double the staff or something.

But I agree, if he planned on a PC version, I feel he should have been upfront and stated for folks to expect many titles to come to PC.

Someone bought a XONE for this game that has a perfectly fine gaming PC that can play this game, no doubt about that at all. They are 100% right to be upset about that as they bought a product for a title or feature unbeknownst to them would not actually be exclusive to that hardware.

Your right jb, not disregarding that at all. Its why I feel Phil should out right make it known that other titles are heading that way as to avoid folks feeling like they are being mislead into buying an XONE.

Those that will be hurt by this are existing XONE owners that may have a PC, its their own fan base getting upset which makes it so much more worse. If they want to build that trust, it must be transparent why XONE is so great. Let it be known its an option for great games as suppose to misleading folks about its features only to later say its releasing else where, that is no way to build consumer trust.

I don't like how they went about it and hopefully they announce in the future the rest of their titles they plan on putting on PC day and date as suppose to 2 months before release. I really don't believe MS mean't to really do that, but they still indirectly did it.

I don't really mind that they do it with timed games as....its business, but they shouldn't do it with their own titles as this really only hurts their install base's trust. Let your whole install base know those titles are coming to both, day and date.

It won't hurt, it will only help.

HaydenJameSmith3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

I support MS making there games available to PC player. I still think there is still plenty of reasons to own an Xbox One (cost and convenience) and it means more revenue for Xbox Division.

But I'm not sure if this is a sign of all X1 exclusives arriving day and date with console yet. Quantum Break was very expensive to make with numerous delays, Hollywood actors starring and a TV show, so for any chances at a sequel or this game becoming a franchise MS had to make sure this game sells really well. So a PC release made sense. Plus Remedy want to support PC gamers.

As far as Halo, Gears and Forza are concerned (I also think Scalebound is going to PC but because it's a new IP and Platinum want it to be a successful), I'm not to sure yet. Gears will be the real test. If Gears 4 (a game that will need no help to sell) launches on PC day and date with Xbox One version then everyone should expect every game too.

_-EDMIX-_3743d ago

You're free to believe that Hayden but in terms of what Phil Spencer himself has been saying he has given zero indication of any title remaining on that platform as his comments stated they are seeking to support both and even have an event named windows 10 and Xbox one.

I don't even think I'm going out on the limb when I say I believe gears 4 Forza 6 horizon 3 the next halo in many more will be arriving on PC day and date.

prior to the last three titles that were announced to PC I might have believed maybe not all, but with record and now quantum break and reading Phils statements is even further confirmation that what he's been saying for months is not just bluffing comments is putting what he's saying into action and even his tweets once again are showing that they have no plans to single out any platform and they are seeking to support both.

I don't know if I can really say this is some special case or isolated situation as hate to be a broken record but read Phil Spencer's tweets his comments have never ever hinted or stated at ever having another Xbox one title remain on that platform he's continued to be very consistent even with angry fanboys stating he was abandoning Xbox one he never once stated otherwise he merely stated he was supporting both.

as if this was an isolated situation I'm pretty positive Phil Spencer would state otherwise in very much so that they had more Xbox one exclusives coming where that this was a special situation or something but that isn't was being stated.

HaydenJameSmith3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

I understand what you are saying.

And I'm not against it but Halo 5 didn't arrive day and date and has still yet to be announced for PC. Which is why I think Gears 4 and Forza are still up in the air. I think there is a strong possibility that big games like Gears and Halo will be at least timed exclusive on Xbox One.

Your not going out on a limb. It is a very likely possibility that all of MS games are going to end up on PC. But I'll wait and see what they have to say at this Win 10/Xbox event at the end of the month first. They need to explain to everyone up front so there is no guessing.

Also if Gears 4 is going to PC, they better speak up soon to avoid as much backlash as they got with Quantum Break cause while it doesn't bother me that it's going to PC, the timing of the whole thing is definitely suspect.

Before Control Resonant launches, you need to play Remedy's mind-bending Quantum Break, one of the best third-person shooters around.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit793d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead792d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica792d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL792d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

Lol what a spin. You dizzy?

AsunaYuukiTheFlash792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

We don’t care about shovelwares. Get that junk out of PS5

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit793d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer793d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit792d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff2183792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer792d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff2183792d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper792d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal793d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood793d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff2183792d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde793d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer809d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion808d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning77808d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer808d ago (Edited 808d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw809d ago (Edited 809d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder809d ago (Edited 809d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing808d ago (Edited 808d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai808d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well
