The Division Beta Files Include Brooklyn Folder, Might Be Starting Area

WCCFt: Ever since the game’s reveal, we have known that The Division, the soon to be released third person shooter developed by Ubisoft, is going to be set in New York during a terrible crisis instigated by a smallpox pandemic, and players will be able to explore some of the more important parts of the city such as Manhattan. It’s previously been confirmed that a few areas such as Brooklyn, Long Island and State Island won’t be included in the game at launch, but it seems like one of them might still be featured in the final version of the game.

So the developers said in an interview that Brooklyn wont be DLC and they said in another interview it wont be in the game then what the hell?

Its either in the game or its coming as dlc.

The areas were never mentioned in the season pass details (as far as I'm aware) so I'm quite confused as to what happens to them. Maybe they're holding them back for the division 2?? Or perhaps the full dlc info hasn't been released.

Or maybe a dlc in the style of The Taken King that is not part of the season pass.

I dont like this. I think i will wait for the Complete Edition.

ninsigma3771d ago

Hmmmm Yeah could be that too.
Seems odd either way. I'd say I'll be getting it anyway because I wanna play with friends. If I see shady stuff I just won't buy any extras.

It'll probably be a starting zone that you can't go back from. If you played the beta, you star off in a helicopter and the other person with you (that is badly wounded and bandaged up) says:

"Come back, I need you..." ... "Look, you're going to be OK. Hell, at this point you're gonna be more OK than me. That explosion took out the commander. We still got a job to do. We're still gonna do it." And on the wall of the helicopter behind the player, is a gas mask with a bullet hole in it.

My guess is, starting zone / tutorial area that you don't get to go back to.

Seems like a logical explanation. Time will tell.

If it was the starting area I think Ubisoft would have said...I mean not saying anything is just making them look bad to be honest.

Pongwater3770d ago

"not saying anything is just making them look bad to be honest."

Not really, to be both honest and rational.

-Foxtrot3770d ago

Course it is. They are already in the shit with past, crappy actions. If this is causing bad PR for them before release then you would say something instead of making it look like you've held back cut content for DLC.

People saw a very early bit of gameplay, that was probably literally one street put together just for that purpose with nothing else explorable, and assumed that all of Brooklyn would be in the game. What should they say to people like that? They obviously thought about having Brooklyn be a major area, then changed their minds as development went on, for whatever reason. Ubisoft wouldn't be the first to drop various features as a game takes shape, and they won't be the last. I'm not sure what they could say to people who imo aren't thinking clearly if they're mad or irked in any way about the situation.

Edit - Also, there is a starting area we haven't seen yet. Who knows where it takes place.

ya the video showing brokklyn ended with them looking at the bridge, and stating we have to get into manhattan or something on those terms

SIMOIKIE3771d ago

I'm sure they just aren't committing to anything yet until they are 100 percent on what is being offered and they have it to a certain quality level even with consumer expectations.

objdadon3771d ago

It could already be on disc and unlocked later via dlc.

Data mining doesn't mean it's definitely apart of the game, the content has been cut... but folder files and codes associated with it may still be there
