I've heard of collecting dust, but never collecting dead.

PancakeLova3755d ago

That's something my senile grandmother would say.

Still the original owner of a Vectrex and hope to clean up my 2600 this summer☺ Was shopping for a copy of Seaquest recently..lol.

Seaquest was awesome! I remember playing it as a kid

Vectrex was such an awesome system! I never did get one, but a friend had it! Was a blast! One of the few systems of the day that could do arcade perfect ports...If it was a vector game that is! so much fun!

I remember Vetrex having some kind of 3D add on. I so wanted it badly and saw it at Toys R Us for about a second before it disappeared and never seen from again.

If the demand is low for Atari 2600 right now then it's time for me to start collecting it as long as the prices are right.

Aenea3755d ago

My thoughts exactly! Still have my original one and it still works...

Same here, once in a while i will pop in the River Raid or Battlezone carts for a quick Atari fix.

Prices for 2600 stuff was never really that high except for some of the really rare stuff in new or like new/complete condition. Nothing has really changed in the collecting market for the past 5-6 years as far as I can tell. There was a surge where some people on Ebay raised the prices, which made it seem like it was hotter than it really was, but that died down after people stopped buying them at the inflated prices and everyone else came in to try and get higher prices which eventually normalized the price...which is something I really wish would happen in the TG-16 market, but people who collect that stuff seem fanatical about keeping their stuff.:(

So now maybe I can finally land a copy of "Chase the Chuckwagon" for a reasonable price? ;)

As someone who grew up with Atari, I actually enjoyed the clunky 2600 version.

Atari Introduces The Retro Atari 2600+ PAC-MAN Edition

This looks like a fun fusion that collectors and Retro fans may enjoy.

I love how there are matching ghost colors for the controllers. I hope they add a Purple "Sue" controller for the inevitable Ms PacMan double feature cart they are working on. It would seem a crime not to.

That shit looks amazing. If I ever had a "retro room" in my house, this would be 100% needed. The best Atari 2600 design I've ever seen imo, besides the original of course lol

Ristul202d ago

It looks cool, kind of ironic though considering that the port of Pacman for Atari 2600 is notoriously bad.
