Vectrex was such an awesome system! I never did get one, but a friend had it! Was a blast! One of the few systems of the day that could do arcade perfect ports...If it was a vector game that is! so much fun!

I remember Vetrex having some kind of 3D add on. I so wanted it badly and saw it at Toys R Us for about a second before it disappeared and never seen from again.

Prices for 2600 stuff was never really that high except for some of the really rare stuff in new or like new/complete condition. Nothing has really changed in the collecting market for the past 5-6 years as far as I can tell. There was a surge where some people on Ebay raised the prices, which made it seem like it was hotter than it really was, but that died down after people stopped buying them at the inflated prices and everyone else came in to try and get higher prices which eventually normalized the price...which is something I really wish would happen in the TG-16 market, but people who collect that stuff seem fanatical about keeping their stuff.:(

Atari one button joystick + Amiga SWOS = gaming heaven. Went through about 10 of those joysticks. Miss those days. 😪

Yep, certainly wasn't the best game ever made, but two player was brilliant, the amount of satisfaction and pride seeing your mate stomp off in a strop because i whooped his team was great.

Just because you see Atari cartridge at a store doesn't mean that the ATARI is dead.
Would we say ps3, genesis, etc. is dead because we see in a store used copies of Maddens or any low rated game?

Just go look on specialized websites to see that there's a demand for certain game (the original space Invaders for one).

On a side note I sold my entire 2600 library, Vectrex Library, Sega CD (with genesis) Library for a nice amount of 1500$ on Kijiji (it was comparable to the market).

So yeah there's market for the collector (to let you know a Vectrex console can net you 200$

Snatcher.. the Best game ever.. I've owned it 4 times in the past 21 years.. including the rom and emulator on my phone :D

There is a pretty healthy collector's market for almost every game system out there. Old collector's are always deciding to move on and sell their collections, new people are always starting off in their collections. Just the way things go. Surges and lulls happen all the time. If it's low now, in 3-4 years it'll be high again and vice versa.

Honestly, outside of some very dedicated indie gaming stores, which are becoming rarer, the entire collecting market has moved to online(or craigslist) to procure their games, and I've never found it hard to offload an old game if I ask a reasonable price.

That's not a bad return considering...what is kijiji anyway?...i can see why people would collect atari seeing as how it ushered in the home console race...but most if not all of atari's games can be found in compilations on other consoles. You can even find them on digital stores like xbox live arcade or even emulators for free.

To me the best looking console to date has to be the atari 5200. I can only guess that it and it's games would cost more because of it's short lifespan. I enjoyed every moment of it though due to it's arcade like graphics.

Sidenote-if you all haven't seen that atari documentary about digging up the E.T. cartridges they buried in new mexico then you should. It's very well told and i normally don't watch documentaries but i was glued the entire time.

Atari was a couple years before my time.. NES is my 1st console followed by TG16, Genesis, SNES, & so on.. Atari never held my interest as a kid because i really didnt understand what i was playing besides the basic games. I dont want to collect for something i dont have a passion for because im OCD & will blast too much on it
