Atari Reveals Gamestation Go Details

Atari has revealed more details of their Gameatation Go for those looking for classic games on the go.

Having grown up with Atari, I have no nostalgia for it or its games.

jznrpg257d ago

I enjoyed it when I was very young but most of the games are very clunky and don’t hold up. I still play a few of the games from time to time like Centipede, Galaga, PAC Man, Defender and maybe another game or two I’m not thinking about but that’s about it. NES and after I have a lot of nostalgia for but overall Atari doesn’t hold that spot for obvious reasons.

Smellsforfree257d ago

The arcade versions of those games were great. Ms. PacMan arcade is one of the best games ever. I'm talking about the home ports of those games on Atari 2600 were not very good at all.

You must not have a sibling that you settled every score over a game of Combat with.

Jingsing256d ago

Ironically their most successful product outside the Atari 2600 was the Atari ST and most people in North America probably never experienced it. Arcade machines was probably their best moment.

It's incredible how many times various versions of Atari have been able to milk the same era of games in umpteen million different plastic housings and cheap handhelds. Surely no one is actually buying these enough to keep making them, right?

spicelicka256d ago

and the audacity to charge such an absurd price! Who tf keeps buying these things??

spicelicka256d ago (Edited 256d ago )

$180 LMFAO. How in the world do people play most of those sh*tty games for more than a 5 minutes is beyond me. Nostalgia is great and it's great to be able to enjoy those games for people that want them, but $180 is insane when you can literally get the entire Atari library on any phone in the past 10 years and on hundreds of handheld consoles online for $20.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing24d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9224d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit24d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing24d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9224d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
