Don't expect Nintendo to release Star Fox 2 for its own Virtual Console platform, according to comments from Miyamoto.
"In my memory, I enjoyed [Star Fox 2] but I'm not sure I would release it," he said. "I'd rather have people play a new game."

BLG writes: "The original titles are classics with near-infinite replayability. Later releases, however, have stumbled. Usually, they’re hampered by attempted innovation with new control schemes or gimmicks. Still, there’s a lot to enjoy with the beloved Nintendo franchise. To celebrate, we’re going to rank the best Star Fox games in the franchise. To come up with the order, we’re mixing in a little bit of Metacritic ranking and author opinion."

WGTC: "Nintendo hasn’t always given Starfox the most love among its tentpole franchises, but the series has still cultivated a loyal cult fanbase over its almost 30-year history. Here are all of the games in the mainline series ranked from worst to best."
Well, they listed Star Fox Zero as the worst one, so that list is at least believable.
I feel like if you're judging the original Star Fox by it's era then I feel you should do the same with Star Fox 2 IMO. Since they are both effectively SNEA games
It's hard to top the N64 version (well maybe the 3DS version, but that should have used uncompressed audio. Without that it's a step down from what it could have been IMO)

"Star Fox 2 is a fun shooter for SNES and it has some interesting history so allow me to explain what it's all about in this retrospective." - Alex Legard from Video Chums
after the digital event i expect nothing anymore from nintendo
Wouldn't it make more sense to put Star Fox 2 on VC to create interest and hype before Star Fox Zero is released? It's been a while since the last Star Fox game came out after all.
This is why miyamoto needs to retire. He has this attitude that just because HE doesn't want something, no one else should want it either. People would pay money(myself included) for star fox 2 but he wants us to buy the new game. Buy it even though he ignores us in regards to online multi-player. Smh.
