Guitar Hero Live has redesigned controller with six black and white notes

Eurogamer:
Guitar Hero Live will launch later this year with a new controller peripheral, a Yahoo France report has revealed.

The report, originally published on the website of French newspaper Le Monde and now pulled offline, details a redesigned guitar controller with six black and white keys divided into two rows of three.

Another change from previous titles in the series will be a shift to first-person - letting players personify the role of a guitarist in a concert for the first time.

Lots of hate on the linked website. Its great how Rock Band is letting you use the same controllers and previous songs, but I think this new Guitar Hero looks a lot fresher. A new controller to master with a few more options than the simple 5 button layout. I dunno, maybe I’m the minority that think this looks interesting.

It will feel more like a guitar when you climb up the scales. I think it's better, but they will lose badly to Rock Band if they don't let you use the songs from last gen. A hybrid controller with a full sized neck, placing the new buttons by the headstock and the old ones right below them would be ideal.

Great idea, but it’s a whole new UI built on the new controller layout. This is probably why they do not allow old song library, although they should put in the small amount of work to recode the songs to the new UI & controller.

Is this guitar only or will they have drums & mic? I do think they will lose to Rock Band since people can just buy the game disc for Rock Band and have a new track of songs. My worry with that is that it would just feel like DLC. I hope Rock Band pushes the interaction between friends list, music video, song creation, etc, and not just a set of new songs with nearly the same game.

It's value vs. originality.

I think this might be better, I was never able to master using my pinky finger for the 5th row which resulted in me moving my hand and getting screwed up. Really interested to see how this plays.

lashes2ashes4064d ago

You should not be using you're pinky for orange lol. You should be changing hand position.

Sm00thop4064d ago

You still have to use your pinky when shifting, I never had a problem with it to be honest.

Dravidian4064d ago

I almost always use my pinky. It's a matter of whether you want to shift once or twice. If it's a fast song with a ton of oranges then I have to shift twice and use my ring finger. Otherwise I just shift up and down one level and use my pinky for orange and blue.

Plus some combinations are ridiculous if you don't use your pinky: GYO, GBO, and GRYO (one song had that) are hard to do (perhaps even painful) without using your pinky.

The controller is nice. People can do power chords now, cool.
Still wish there was 10 buttons. 5 and 5.

etownone4064d ago

Rock Band ftw...

Unless.... I try the new GH controller and I like it.

Like someone pointed out,

It's value vs originality.

pivotplease4064d ago

Kind of agreed but I'm also in it for the co-op experience. Rock band rocks in this regard.

Thefreeman0124064d ago

ive always wanted to try rock smith. learning out to play a real guitar has always peaked my curiosity

just-joe4064d ago

I'll stick with Rocksmith.

Metal gear was probably the worst way to end a franchise that was at one time the best out there, sad how that went down. Call of duty was good and it’s crapping out hard if u ask me. Uncharted ended right

I wouldn't say resistance crumbled
it came to a natural end

Losing Dead Space and Silent Hill really sucks. Good horror games are hard to come by

Fist4achin2324d ago

RIP Dead Space! Puns intended

specialguest2324d ago

I liked Killzone 2 and 3. KZ2 amazed me with the graphics. KZ3 refined the gameplay mechanics, although a small minority of fans thought the movement wasn't heavy enough like KZ2. I thought it was perfect

7 Times Games Forced Us Online (Against Our Will)

Some games force online-only measures onto people. It sucks! Especially when some titles, like these seven, 100% didn't need it.

The Destruction of Guitar Hero Live

With Rock Band 4 still chugging along and the actual teaching tool known as Rocksmith teaching guitar in a world where that music is a dying breed, there may not be another renaissance for the music gaming genre. Guitar Hero Live will likely be the last Guitar Hero game ever released.
