Why Quantum Break Is Better Off Releasing in 2016

IGN - Rumors aside, a 2015 release date just doesn't make sense for the Xbox One exclusive.

Foehammer4093d ago (Edited 4093d ago )

2015 is already jam packed with exclusives.

If quantum break goes to 2016 it won't be missed.

But it will be welcomed in 2016.

EDIT @ Georgenancy, I guess that makes March "the Holidays" then, ScreamRide just released, Ori and the Blind Forest is the top rated 2015 game so far, and the stand alone Forza Horizon 2 Fast & Furious is around the corner.

georgenancy4093d ago

jammed packed with exclusives?only in the holidays mate leel.I dont even know why i bothered replying knowing your history

tinynuggins4093d ago (Edited 4093d ago )

He was obviously referring to holiday since that is the current release window of Quantum Break and I agree. If quantum break slips to 2016 it's not a huge deal as holiday is going to be very busy for xbox owners. Even more so after E3 I imagine.

georgenancy4093d ago

game looks really good, only game that peaks my interest on the xbox one

AngelicIceDiamond4093d ago

"If quantum break goes to 2016 it won't be missed."

It won't be missed if its a bad game.

But it will stand with the rest of them if its a good game.

christocolus4093d ago

I trust Remedy. they always make top notch games and they put a lot of attention into quality.

Lamboomington4092d ago

It's Remedy.
Every single game they've made from Max Payne 1 has been special, and a ton of fun to play. They know what they're doing. In my eyes, it's almost guaranteed that this will be a good game.

Really hope it comes to PC later, so PC gamers can also enjoy it

christocolus4093d ago

I agree with Ryan and the team the game is the most ambitious game remedy has ever made and they need time to make sure its top notch.its one of my most anticipated titles and i have friends waiting to get an xbox one just for this.also it wouldn't be a bad idea to add more exclusives to the 2016 line up since we all know fall 2015 is already packed full with AA titles i.e Halo5, Forza6,Tomb Raider, Gigantic, Fable legends and Phil has hinted at more ips being announced for release this year including one new title from rare .

Starting 2016 with a game like QB would be awesome it would give us time to prepare for other AAA titles i.e Gears4, Scalebound, Crackdown3 ,Forza Horizon3 , Phantun Dust etc.

StrayaKNT4093d ago

Wow thinking about it, at the end of this year and in 2016 were going to have the best games ever imo. 2016 line up already looks brutal and I'm sure it's only going to get better. Can't wait!

bleedsoe9mm4092d ago (Edited 4092d ago )

don't want this game to be lost in the noise that is oct - nov - dec . if this game is ready to go by aug - sept fine put it out but if its not going to be ready until nov - dec wait and give it room to breath in feb - march .

traumadisaster4092d ago

You should have stopped with the first paragraph...

What is the preparation you need to play the other AAA titles, and what exactly does QB do to help that "preparation?"

Just stick the game in, no prep needed by playing another unrelated game 6 months prior.

Its a good thing if it gets delayed.

Sam Lake operates on his own time when it comes to creating games. Though 5 years is imo pretty ridiculous. Alan Wake had its fair share of hype FOR A WHILE only to get dwindled by constant delay and releasing in a horrible launch window.

They have the story, presentation, mechanics, graphics, physics and characters down in QB. Imo Sam wants to polish EVERYTHING he seems like a double if not triple check his work kind of guy. A real keen for details kind of developer.

Like a painter.

Anyway can't wait for this game in either 2015 or 2016 my hype hasn't gone anywhere.

traumadisaster4092d ago

Yea the collector's guide and art book are a masterpiece as well for AW.

Relientk774093d ago

I'd be surprised if it releases in 2015. I think were gonna see it in 2016.

gangsta_red4093d ago

Take your time with this game and make it the best they possibly can.

Good to see a lot of devs taking the extra time to put into games instead of being dictated by marketing deadlines.

But lets hope the result is proof that the extra time is needed. So far there has been a few games delayed and when released didn't live up to expectations justified by a delay.

Rimeskeem4093d ago (Edited 4093d ago )

The problem with it being delayed to 2016 is that it will have to compete with Uncharted 4.

christocolus4093d ago

They will be on different platforms. Xbox One owners will likely pick QB while Ps4 owners will pick UC4. i don't see any problem with that. Sony will market the hell out off UC4 and i expect MS to do same with QB.

Rimeskeem4093d ago

I just think MS would want a proven series/franchise to go against Uncharted 4

deadpoolio3164093d ago

I think his point is that Uncharted 4 will move more console units than Quantum Break will...Its an established system seller vs an unknown IP...In that event Uncharted will sell more systems than Quantum Break

Moldiver4093d ago (Edited 4093d ago )

@Rimeskeem

I find myself agreeing with christocolus on this.

"I just think MS would want a proven series/franchise to go against Uncharted 4"

Well...in 2016 the king of TPS returns...Gears of war and all its addictive MP goodness. I think thats about as proven as you can get. So MS have QB,Crackdown, scale bound and gears along with whatever else gets announced. there 2016 is going to be even more immense than 2015. Cant wait for this years E3, because MS are gonna let that money do some big things, from what I have been hearing.

QBs delay can only be a good thing. When an MS funded project has a delay it certainly isnt down to the developer having a lack of resources. so clearly this has been a choice. And if sam lake says it needs more time in incubation, so be it. Remedy ALWAYS delivers. Im still hoping MS/remedy, wrap up the alan wake saga at some point this cycle too.

christocolus4093d ago

@Deadpoolio

UC4 may move more units but it wont stop those who planned to pick up an xbox one for QB from doing so. My point is that they are on separate platforms.I think your argument would hold more water if both games were going to be released on the same platform. I don't see xbox one fans ditching QB for UC4. The game isn't an established franchise like UC4 but i'm betting it's going to sell very well and it will move consoles too(maybe not as much as UC4).

jb2274093d ago

I personally wonder how much stock that idea of purchasing timed exclusive rights for RotTR to compete w/ Uncharted held when Spencer mentioned it. If it was the driving force behind why they spent the money, would that mean that they would potentially delay it into 2016 as well in order to actually compete w/ UC4? Halo alone would make for a huge holiday for an Xbox owner or MS fan it would seem so it's not like they'd be hurting for it in the time frame. Also, the turnaround between TR titles is pretty fast here considering all the work that goes into making a sequel truly excel over an original, not to mention the potential issues w/ porting down to 360 if they plan to release simultaneously. Not sure how the contractual side of things pan out regarding whether CD or MS have explicitly stated the game must drop during the holidays but does anyone else see the potential for a Rise of the Tomb Raider delay following Uncharted's?

If nothing else, I could see a delay happening regarding one platform iteration or another, specifically where they may delay the Xbox One version in order to compete w/ a PS4 Uncharted. The XBO version is meant to be the superior version apparently, so they could have their cake and eat it too by launching the title for 360 in time for the holidays & garnering big sales on the larger platform market, then touting some vast difference between the two (whether its there or not) in order to have the next gen titles properly go head to head.

kurruptor4093d ago

@jb

I don't see the logic in delaying Tomb Raider. I think it is better off with 0 competition. Microsoft certainly will win the holidays without Uncharted being there. Anyone into that type of game now has to ask will they wait longer for Uncharted or go ahead and get TR.

You're still overlooking this Remedy sci-fi shooter, and its 89% cheaper on Steam Deck

Before Control Resonant launches, you need to play Remedy's mind-bending Quantum Break, one of the best third-person shooters around.

15 Xbox Games That Should Make the Multiplatform Jump

While there’s likely already a list behind closed doors, one can still speculate and offer logical suggestions for titles new and old that should find their way into the PlayStation and Switch libraries.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit806d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead805d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica805d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL805d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

S2Killinit805d ago

Lol what a spin. You dizzy?

AsunaYuukiTheFlash805d ago (Edited 805d ago )

We don’t care about shovelwares. Get that junk out of PS5

StormSnooper805d ago

More like MS begging to put their games on PlayStation.

TheEroica804d ago

Keep begging Sony gamers!

Friendlygamer806d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit806d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer806d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit805d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff2183805d ago (Edited 805d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer805d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff2183805d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper805d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal806d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood806d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff2183805d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde806d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer821d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion821d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning77821d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing821d ago (Edited 821d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai821d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well
