Both are ideal.

If I had to choose one, and one only, console.

DarkOcelet4109d ago

While consoles are amazing. On PC, games last much longer because of the support of mods. Seriously, mods can make games a different experience entirely.

offtopic: I love how the mouse is eating the controller lol.

Fro_xoxo4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Yeah, you're right. The PC has so many perks.

I grew up with consoles. It's just what I'm use to.

With the prices on games right now.

I will probably pick up a pre-built PC at some stage to save money on games.

I like the alienware alpha for it's mobility.

Yes I know I can build my own, I've done it before.

BiggerBoss4109d ago

I prefer consoles just because its what I've always played. I can definitely see why alot of people prefer playing PC. It definitely has its perks, but maintaining a gaming PC just doesnt appeal to me, i'm less of a tech-head, more of a laid-back kinda guy. Most of the franchises I like are console exclusive as well, but some like MGS are making their way to Steam.

Rambling aside, at the end of the day, some people will prefer PC and some will prefer consoles. They're both great options.

Vegamyster4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

A big one for me is backwards compatibility, if i want to revisit Tiberium Sun/Red Alert 2 i can do that, if i missed out on a game the first time i can buy it for cheap and play it with the added benefits of newer hardware ect.

FriedGoat4109d ago

Used to be a massive PC gamer. I still have multiple gaming rigs in my home but I mainly game on console now.

PC used to be fantastic, it's great now, but it's all indie and mobas, no exciting titles like Dues ex and half life 2 etc back in the day.

I still play the occasional thing but PC AAA vs Console AAA, console wins no contest.

Jughead34164109d ago

Good debate. When I think about all the console exclusives, it may be too hard to pass up on those. But as a console gamer, I do sometimes want to experience the superior performance that PC has to offer. Tough choice.

GhostTurtle4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Bought GTA V again on PS4 coming from 360 and I'm tempted to buy it again on PC once it goes on sale. In all honesty, if your just playing single player and dont have alot of friends for online and own a PS4 and gaming PC, there is no reason at all to buy it on ps4 over PC. The PC will look better and will support mods.

Only using GTA as an example here. I own both (ps4/gaming pc). Both are good bc not all my friends own a gaming PC. There are many games Ive purchased more than once from console to pc bc of mods. Borderlands 2 is a good case (360/pc). Have yet to play The Pre-Sequel but fully intend on getting the game in March when it releases for PS4.

freshslicepizza4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

easy choice for me - pc

+ cheaper software on average
+ free online
+ largest library
+ software lasts longer (backwards compatibility not as big of an issue)
+ online support lasts longer (how many times do we hear about console games being taken offline?)
+ community tends to stick around longer
+ dedicated servers
+ mod support
+ best option for multiplat games for visuals and performance
+ often gets patches first
+ keyboard/mouse and controller options
+ more competition with various online stores to buy games from
+ best platform for mmo games, rts games and indies

- can be more expensive to get started
- missing out on some console exclusives and not all multiplat games come to the pc
- not as simple (but still very easy) of plug and play as consoles
- not as universal to keep all of your games on (steam, origin, etc.) and friends

Somebody4109d ago

It all depends on the individual tastes and needs. I'm a PC gamer but I have advised some of friends and even my brother to get consoles instead after considering a bunch of factors.

Of course that was several years and now I think I would recommend the PC for them if they asked me again. Steam games are cheaper, even more so after Valve introduced regional pricing last year, while PC hardware price remain relatively the same but they offer a much better value than before. In fact, Steam games became so cheap that I have been buying less and less games from GOG and Gamergate(the two main competitors to Steam in my book).

The PC became my first gaming device that I feel comfortable with in terms of control. I have been exposed to the Mario Brothers and Tetris years earlier but I sucked at the controls and I didn't have enough time to get used to them. All those other PC/console perks were discovered later on. Console controllers may have the smoothness of movement but the mouse has the freedom of sight that I prefer.

Both, totally.

If I had to choose one, and only one - it'd be PC as I need it for a million other things (and is higher fidelity, scaleable/upgrades easily, and i have a much bigger library there) .. Also can emulate everything up to the PS2 on it.. Which is probably cheating, oh well. XD

But I wouldn't do without either really. Love my exclusives.

JsonHenry4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

PC for me. It will still have uses once it can no longer play current games and does more than just play games, stream music, or watch videos.

But only if I had to choose one or the other. I currently have a gaming rig and a PS4.

Clunkyd4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

I choose consoles over PC for 3 main reasons.

-Sell/Trade/Rent games
Most games for me aren't worth more than $30 bucks. So instead i pay full price, finish it, then trade or sell it and get most of my money back.

-Exclusives
I will always favor console exclusives over PC games.

-The ecosystem of consoles. I like features to be optimized and integrated to a dedicated interface, It feels more welcoming on a big screen tv in the living room.

Here comes the butthurt PC fanboys, they hate when they hear exclusives and buy/trade/sell games. :)

benji1014109d ago

Do you actually have a clue how many exclusives release on a weekly basis for PC?

Also steam sales make trading in games redundant. Pay $10 for $60 games all day long.

Clunkyd4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

@Benji

"$10 for $60 games"
Why do you pc fanboys lie and scam so many people with this BS. You certainly won't pay $10 on release day.

Sadly PC games never satisfied me, There's so much shovelware. Quality>Quantity.
If I care so much about quantity, I would be playing mobile games instead.

MadLad4109d ago

"Here comes the butthurt PC fanboys, they hate when they hear exclusives and buy/trade/sell games. :)"

And you decide to end with that?
So you're nothing but an instigator then?

Rifkens4108d ago

@Clunkyd - Have you checked Humble Bundle at all? At the moment you can buy the Square Enix bundle from $1 - $15 and get 3 - 10 games, depending on how much you're willing to pay

duplissi4108d ago

On release day? no not that cheap... I pre ordered Dragon Age Inquisition for 40 dollars, and bought Dying light a few days after it came out for 44 dollars, however last night I picked up Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor for 13 dollars last night. Also if I didn't already have Alien Isolation I could have picked that up for 9 bucks.

Yeah, I have a PC now that's decent at playing games. I like having it. If I had to choose just 1, it would be my PS4. But ideally, I'd love to have a great PC and the PS4, b/c PC gaming is amazing. But there's too many great games I would miss.

duplissi4108d ago

I plan to pick up a PS4, but I wont be upset if that never happens. Naughty Dog is my favorite developer. I don't feel that a the price of a PS4 is worth it if I'm only going to play a few exclusives a year.

DevilOgreFish4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

The only problem I have with consoles is that you have to wait for good games, to play. On PC they're already there.

Bolts4109d ago

Both is the way to go. You're not a complete gamer until you have the best of both worlds. There are experiences only the PC can provide and there some genres in which the PC utterly dominate in such as RPGs, simulations, MMOs and strategy games for example.

Consoles are there for sports, racing, action adventure games and in some cases, shooters.

I hear a lot of fanboys spouse nonesense about "exclusives" but unless you game on both the PC and console then you really don't give a damn about exclusives because you're missing out on a ton of games.

Adrian_v014108d ago

"I hear a lot of fanboys spouse nonesense about "exclusives" but unless you game on both the PC and console then you really don't give a damn about exclusives because you're missing out on a ton of games."

Not really. I play mainly JRPGs and most of them are on consoles and handhelds. The PC really lacks behind when it comes to that genre.

Mutant-Spud4109d ago

PC for me because I'm on a tight budget, if not for Steam sales I wouldn't still be gaming at all, console games are just way too expensive in Australia, I can't pay $100 for a game.

sanosukegtr1234109d ago

Console pc is ok, cheap games, mods, free online game-playing etc. But console is where its at.

deecee334108d ago

Agree with theFro. Both have really never been better. I was a PC gamer for years and still dabble in it, but you can't beat the simplicity and quality of consoles these days. If I had to choose just one system it'd be a console.

I do love my PS4, I use it pretty much every day, and it's very user friendly. But I would definitely get myself a pretty decent gaming PC also if I had the money. I think they both have their perks, and I believe certain games should be played on a console, where as others are better played on PC.

BattleAxe4109d ago

Both! I'm currently rock'n a PS3, Xbox One and PC!

StormLegend4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

Consoles anyday, But I do love the cheap prices of games on PC.

Mega244109d ago

I choose both, but if I was obligated to one, it would be a hard choice, but PC would be it.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio23d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing23d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit23d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing23d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
