"With an industry leader like themselves leading the drive for powerful portable devices and console quality games it’s more than likely EA will realize their dreams of seeing gamers play Madden 18 on the bus."

Yeah, i don't think i would root for them being an industry leader.

Bigpappy4109d ago

It doesn't matter if tablets or cell phones are MORE powerful than consoles. People play on consoles because that is their preference.

Scatpants4108d ago

But what if there was a console that was really thin that had a screen on it.

kneon4108d ago

@Scatpants

No matter how powerful a tablet they make, they can make a console that is much more powerful for the same money, or just as powerful for much less.

The tablet form factor will always have power, size and heat restrictions as limiting factors.

Console Quality Tablets won't matter without Console quality controls.

* Tablet controls are worse than the Atari joystick from the 80's.

Tablets bring graphics forward into the future but they leave controls behind in the past.

Are you watching or playing?

just_looken4108d ago

Just throwing this out there but you can use external mods which allow duelshock controllers on tablets.

Also nividea sheild is a combo of this.

Tablets will never become "console quality." Are you drunk again EA? Only trash talk comes out of ubEAsofts mouth.

Never write never. Computers use to be a whole room, not it's fits in your pocket and hand and it's hundred, if not thousands of times more powerful and efficient.

Cell phone has more computer power than all of NASA back in 1969, when it placed two astronauts on the moon.

"Multiple IBM System/360 Model 75 mainframe computers, costing up to $3.5 million apiece all the while occupying tremendous amounts of space, were operational at NASA at the time. Each could perform several hundred thousand addition operations per second, and their total memory capacity was in the megabyte range. As for the 70-pound Apollo Guidance Computer, which the Apollo 11 Command Module had on board, it was a machine that had 64 kilobytes of memory and operated at 0.043MHz. In comparison, an iPhone 5s, which you can easily fit into any pocket, has a CPU running at speeds of up to 1.3GHz – enough to enable the execution of millions of calculations each second. And the iPhone's 1GB of RAM should well suffice for storing the 6 megabytes of code that NASA developed to monitor the status of its spacecrafts and astronauts in 1969."

It's all about making technoly smaller, more powerful and eventually invisible. Just imagine what we'll do with tablets...it excites me actually.

When humans, technology and profit are involved, it creates a perfect synergy making everything possible. It's all about incentives....And tech/science improves every single year.

What's most likely to occur initially is that a tablet will be able to substitute a console's space yet still be mobile afterwards.

New Tegra chip is more powerful than the 360/ps3.
The difference is anybody wanting to make serious money would never has a game just running on the most powerful chip set, a bit like pc gaming.

AKissFromDaddy4108d ago

iOS and Android are Operating Systems, not hardware specs.

BitbyDeath4108d ago (Edited 4108d ago )

Too bad they aren't talking about gaming quality. Would be great to see the games with the quality of PS1 games. Like a new theme park or theme hospital.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee78d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
