Valve Programmer Dicussing ‘Advanced VR Rendering’ at GDC 2015

VRFocus- Half-Life developer and Steam owner Valve has a close relationship with virtual reality (VR) technology so far. Not only do several ex-employees now hold high level positions at Oculus VR, but the company even has its own head-mounted display (HMD) for internal testing, as pictured below. While the studio might not be planning to release its own kit for consumers to try out, Valve is more than happy to share its findings with anyone that will listening. To that end, one of the company’s Graphics Programmers will be holding a session on VR rendering at the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC).

I never understood why Valve never released their own VR. They sure helped out Oculus in the beginning.
PLUS hearing that Valve may reveal a new OpenGL makes me very excited as well. GDC cant get here soon enough.

Honestly surprised Valve wasn't the first to jump onboard the VR bandwagon. They're one of the only people in the industry I would've trusted with the technology or expect to be interested in it for a Half-Life 3 alone.

Valve responds to NY Attorney General lawsuit

Valve has responded to New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit against the firm, stating it does not believe that lootboxes in its Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2 games unlawfully encourage minors to gamble, adding it was "disappointed" to see the action go ahead despite efforts to "educate" the NYAG about virtual items since "early 2023."
