
There are people who don't care two jots about videogames. There are people who have never moved Mario, never touched Tetris and never sniffed a SNES. But ask those very same people to name a company intrinsically linked with videogaming and almost all of them will shout Nintendo – and those that don't will most probably be some out-of-touch gentry whose pleasure is a snooze in the House of Lords. Even then totalpcgaming are not too sure. For they have heard that the Queen is said to have given the Wii a few moments of her time.
The good news for PC gamers is that, by emulating Nintendo's early consoles, they can tap in to this rich gaming heritage. And where better to start than with the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES for short – the Western version of Japan's hugely popular Famicom?
